China and India which country is more democratic: the richer the country is the more democratic it

.
Chinese get along better with each other than Indians do. Chinese society is more socially cohesive than Indian society, and that is an important part in having a functioning nation and cooperative society.

.
Yes, it is true that Chinese can only curse the government, political leaders, say something like "overthrow the government" "the president is a stupid dog" on Internet. They can't speak like this on TV. But "being able to curse the government or leaders on TV" is not so important component in democracy. Involvement of policy discussion is, isn't it?

I feel in India, mostly the elites have a say in public and express whatever they want, but majority Indians have no idea what democracy is, so it is like elite democracy. While in China, those elites, public intellectuals are somehow constrained by the government, they can criticize, but can't pass some red line, like Tian'anmen Square, split the country. But ordinary Chinese can generally express freely. It is populace democracy.

Is China actually more democratic than India?

Should democracy only mean multi-party politics?
can't it be "people decide/influence the nation's politics/policies"?
Chinese must use real name in social media account now, so do u guys still have the guts to curse the Govt. on internet wt your real name ??:pop:
China demands use of real names in social media accounts

  • ke social media accounts that impersonate public figures, the Chinese government has issued new rules that go much further and outlaw anonymity in blogs, social networks, discussion forums and IM services.

The move, announced Wednesday, is the latest in a recent string of Chinese government actions that have increased online censorship in the country.

To compare China to India is an insult to China, and I suggest to stop opening this kind of topic.

just watched this video
it has a lot of episodes
this episode is about love freedom
some parents are not happy about the marriage of their son/daughter
and they can threaten to kill their son/daughter or the lovers
and the police will also help these insane parents

Jesus, what of crazy nation and police?

In India, the majority population are busy with surviving and most of them are illiterate or not educated enough to be involved in politics or discussion of policies, except voting. They actuallly have no say in politics except voting. And even in voting, their are forced or fooled to elect someone they don't know.

But in China, since the population are much better educated and more wealthy. It has more poeple who are involved in discussion about politics and policies. It has huge Internet population who are discussing, criticizing and giving suggestions about policies, their voices are being heard and adopted by the Chinese government.

Once a hungry wild wolf strayed into a city in search of food. There he met a healthy, well fed wolf and asked him where does he get so much food. The city wolf asked him to come to his house where he can eat as much as he wishes. The wild wolf happily followed him but on the way he noticed a collar around his neck and enquired about it. The city wolf said that his master has put it to keep him in control. The wild wolf stopped and said he cant come with him as he would not like a collar around his neck, it would compromise his freedom and self respect. The city wolf said, "what freedom? and what self respect? You are famished, insecure from wild animals and nature's furies and look at me I get enough tasty meals 3 times a day, i have a warm bed, medical care and all the luxuries of life." But still the wild wolf ran away.

The city wolf was wondering about that stupid wild wolf as to how he wont mind being famished but wont like to sport a collar around his neck. And the wild wolf was wondering about the city wolf that whats the point in having the luxuries of life if you dont have self respect and freedom. Both the wolves have their own perspectives that the other can hardly appreciate.

I disagree, Democratic system is not the only governing system that can be used. We already have quite a lot of semi-failed Democratic
countries in the world. I would say let their
leaders and the people find a better path for themselves.

I don't want to argue that 'democracy is not perfect, but the best of the worst'

Freedom and Self Respect? Freedom to do what? To move? Needs money. To an education? Needs money. Freedom to choices? Needs money.

Self Respect? Would you honestly say China isn't respected. We may not be well liked, but can you honestly say not well respected. Which poorer country has more respect?

I always wondered, Freedom and Self respect, name some concrete examples. I may have to go to work everyday, which makes me less "free" than a bum on the street, but I can do so many things the bum cannot.

What are the examples of these that we don't have?

Read the last sentence of the story. Both can't appreciate each other's perspectives. For one wolf freedom and self respect means nothing if you are hungry but the other wolf wont mind being hungry but he wont like his life and thoughts to be influenced by others. Do you know that living under the knife of a tyrant or criminal makes the victim perceive his oppressor as a saviour like "Stockholm Syndrome".

There are many examples. One is to have a right to say NO. Second is the right to express your own thoughts. Third is the right to live life on your own terms. One thing is that all these rights are curtailed by some people in all societies but important thing is whether those people have supreme authority to do or they do is as criminal act. Crime is there in all countries but when such crimes are done by the state, it becomes human rights. Do you know that no one dies of hunger in a jail?
