In India, the majority population are busy with surviving and most of them are illiterate or not educated enough to be involved in politics or discussion of policies, except voting. They actuallly have no say in politics except voting. And even in voting, their are forced or fooled to elect someone they don't know.

But in China, since the population are much better educated and more wealthy. It has more poeple who are involved in discussion about politics and policies. It has huge Internet population who are discussing, criticizing and giving suggestions about policies, their voices are being heard and adopted by the Chinese government.

Yes, it is true that Chinese can only curse the government, political leaders, say something like "overthrow the government" "the president is a stupid dog" on Internet. They can't speak like this on TV. But "being able to curse the government or leaders on TV" is not so important component in democracy. Involvement of policy discussion is, isn't it?

I feel in India, mostly the elites have a say in public and express whatever they want, but majority Indians have no idea what democracy is, so it is like elite democracy. While in China, those elites, public intellectuals are somehow constrained by the government, they can criticize, but can't pass some red line, like Tian'anmen Square, split the country. But ordinary Chinese can generally express freely. It is populace democracy.

Is China actually more democratic than India?

No need to wake the India up,just let them live in their own happy and pride democracy which is obviously a joke for us . Actually, the democracy is necessary for all the countries including China,but the WESTERN democracy absolutely is not situable for non western civilization,the non west civilization should develop their own democracy,after all, democracy is just a kind of political system ,the goal of democracy is to help people to live a better life just the same as all other political systems. I think they "feel" they are changing. This is the fallacy of elitist democracy. Just like the halo Obama used to wear when he was first elected.

It is a vicious cycle: A good presenter/actor captures the headlines. The mass get excited and feel optimistic. The political actor is elected. Excitement sky-rockets. Then reality starts to hit slowly. People start to feel not so good. If the political actor is good, he will get elected (people less excited this time) for a second time. Then, people feel depressed and look for another halo-savior. Another savior comes. People get excited.

There cannot be any other explanation for the fact that, despite they started off from similar (actually, India a bit more advanced) grounds, China out-competed India in every conceivable human development indicator.

Apparently they have numerous problems; so does everybody else.

Normally, it is none of others' business, because it is the Indian people to like it and keep it or dislike it and change it. If the social/political norms are too oppressive and unresponsive to change, they must have the freedom to rise up and change it by force.

These must be done internally without outside intervention.

What is unacceptable is when Indians start to preach others (China, in my case) and dictate their own political forms upon others and belittle them.

I am in the conviction that we do not get involved in their internal matters and vice versa.

But Indians like to poke their nose in China's internal affairs. Hence the response: Just because we do not speak about the nature of your democracy does not mean we are ignorant of it.
