China a global power: US

Don't care what the US says.

The status of our country is in no way correlated to the words and actions of the US.

You really should stop with your anti-China propaganda. China pays for every African resource that it purchases. Any country can choose not to sell to China if they so desire.

...and u really should stop reading Chinese propaganda(particularly which are state-controlled)

If u really want to know what Africans think of u go to lead post of this thread:

What Africans really think of China !!!!

This article is from a Srilankan Newspaper written by a Srilankan national.

Some main points about China and Africa are:

Countries in Africa are revolting against the Chinese investments and trade in their continent. People are increasingly getting anxious and restless about Chinese intentions, who are being viewed as the new Colonial powers. China claims that it has done more to end poverty in Africa than any other country. China is Africa’s biggest trading partner and its money has paid for countless new Schools and Hospitals.

The UNP has begun criticising the Hambantota Port and the Chinese work force in other Chinese projects. This situation is reminiscent of that which prevailed in Africa when China was deploying its resources there long time ago.

In recent time, attitudes towards China have changed in Africa. Chinese products are increasingly held up as examples of shoddy work. Investments from China have multiplied corruption in the African countries. They are also seen as interfering in the internal politics of the countries and therefore viewed as a colonial power. Africans say they increasingly feel under siege. Tens of thousands of entrepreneurs from China have fanned out across the continent. More Chinese have come to Africa in the past ten years than Europeans in the past 400. First came Chinese from State owned companies, but more and more arrive on their own and most of the contract workers, mainly prison labour are left behind after finishing contract work.

Chinese expatriates care little about rules and regulations. Local sensitivities are routinely ignored at home, and so abroad. Sinopec, an oil Firm has explored in a Gabonese national park. Another state oil company has created lakes of spilled crude oil in Sudan. To avoid censure regarding poor working conditions, Chinese managers bribe union bosses. Tensions came to a head last year when in mines in Sinazongwe, a town in Southern Zambia, two Chinese managers fired shotguns at protesting workers, injuring at least a dozen. There are three possible reasons for recent hatred towards Chinese in Africa. First is that competition, especially from foreigners including Chinese, is rarely popular. Hundreds of textile factories across Nigeria collapsed in recent years because they could not compete with cheap Chinese garments, resulting in thousands of lost jobs. The second reason could be that the Chinese are bringing bad habits as well as trade and investment. The mainland Chinese economy is riddled with corruption, even by African standards, so when the Chinese go abroad they carry on bribing and undermine good governance in host countries. A third reason is that China is seen as hoarding African resources.

China has become a rallying point for most opposition leaders in several countries because of their relationship with ruling Africa Dictators. Opposition parties, especially in southern Africa, frequently campaign on anti-China platforms. Even in normally calm places like Nambia, antipathy is stirring. In Zambia, the opposition leader, Michael Sata, has made Sino-skepticism his trademark. It could only be a matter of time before the Africans start to throw out Chinese like they did to other colonial powers.

I LOLed when you just so soon forget how those Europeans shipped african slaves to america. and how abuse africans as animals. even african itself will not be as stup!d as you.

and looks you also forget the whole indian subcontinent had been enslaved by Europeans for hundreds of years. in your part of the region, they are still control your souls.

you are a shame.

I do remember that Europeans enslaved our region and also i know how many sacrifices our forefathers had done to gain independence.I myself come from a family of freedom fighters.

But I would rather have an european investment in my country which will help my country men ..rather than have China loots my country's resources and thats exactly what many africans are saying

I had this feeling this would come up, a good debate must be balanced with both the good and the bad. Many people are quick to point out the bad but fail to see the good that is done.

Refer to this link its a debate by 2 African professors hosted by the economist and the end result voted that they prefer to have China invested in Africa. That has much more ground and standing compared to a one sided biased opinion of the Sri Lanken article

Speaking the Truth is NOT flaming.

Already reports are coming that Many africans see China as the new occupational power. Some are also of the extreme view that Chinese are treating the Africans worse than how the europeans treated them.

Asians already knew this about China.Looks like Africans are also seeing this. China truly going GLOBAL :agree:

yeah true true, China is not a global power, when I was in north african countries I only saw 'few' thousands chinese people in one small area, and it only took China few days to take few chinese out of Libya! but took indians month to do so, so logically there are more india in Africa than Chinese hence India 'global' power...

China is not global power, when just 'few' (all) luxury brands in Bound Street, London, desperately looking for mandarin speaking sales, but almost 90%of convenient shops in the Uk are 'controlled' by Indians, hence India is global power..

and china is evil, as whenever China develops a new weapon the U.S intelligence will try anything to obtain the details, and the western plus your western wannabe propaganda will start accusing China's move to alter the only 'regional' power balance... but when India wants to buy some weapons to make its 'imported army' the global power, all the real global powers leanders will come to india to 'bag'````hence india a true world power```not the 'Evil China'

happey? :)

China is the next super power of the world it has highest foreign exchange reserves and currently its economy is # 2 after USA. but soon China will cross US to become the world's # 1 economy.

If you don't know nothing about the African colonization history of the european countries, shut up your dirty mouth! You insulted not only China, but also the Africans! If indian people are all like you, China will beat you hands down in any war of any scale at any time. Stupid!

absolutely..The phrase "Global power" is meaningless for China when its influence is only in countries like North Korea,Sudan,Zimbabwe and off course Pakistan.

The entire mineral-rich Sub-Sahara Africa (Kenya, Zimbbabwe, Angoloa, Mozambique, Ghana, Uganda, Sudan etc...), Central America (Columbia, Costa Rica, Guyane, Venezuela, etc...), Southern Asia outside of India (Pakistan, Sri Lanka, Bangledesh, Bhutan, Nepal), and land-borne South East Asia outside of Vietnam (Myamar, Cambodia, Laos) are under heavy Chinese influence.

Then there is the Chinese puppet state -- North Korea.

Dual Russo-China influenced countries include Iran and Mongolia.

Regions where heavy Chinese influence do not extend include Europe, North and South America, Oceania outside of pacfic rim states, Japan, Central Asia outside of Taijikstan, and South East Asian island states. These regions are either Western, powerful or allies of the United States.

Indian world influence is far lesser than China, mainly due to the lack of global trade (commercial & military), and UNSC permanent membership. This causes India to be crippled vis-a-vis China, in all three categories of global Economic, Militaristic and Political influence.

Due credits should always be given.
