Chief of Army Staff Raheel opens Shabbir Sharif hospital.

GUJRAT: Chief of Army Staff Gen Raheel Sharif on Sunday inaugurated Maj Shabbir Sharif Shaheed Hospital at his native Kunjah Town near Gujrat.

The hospital has been established by the Punjab government on the recommendation of the army chief. It has been upgraded to the THQ hospital level with 60 beds at a cost of Rs360 million.

Chief Minister’s Adviser on Health Khwaja Salman Rafique represented the Punjab government at the ceremony. Chief Minister Shahbaz Sharif could not attend the ceremony due to health reasons. Initially some 50 notables from various walks of life were invited by the district government but the invitations were cancelled at the eleventh hour due to security concerns.

Gen Sharif went to the bed of every patient and inquired after their health.

A delegation urged the COAS, who is set to retire on Nov 29, to establish a cadet college in his hometown. The army chief, sources said, assured them that their demand would be met.

Gen Sharif also visited his ancestral graveyard and offered fateha at the graves of his grandfather Mian Mehtab Din and grandmother.

General (r) Raheel Raheel Sharif vacated the army house on Tuesday, the day when he handed over the command of Pakistan Army to General Qamar Bajwa.

According to reports, General Raheel Sharif went to his office after handing over the command, took his personal items and left for Lahore.

The former army chief therefore set another tradition of vacating the army house, the residence of the COAS, immediately.

Still the job you have done and the way you have served, for the uniform you are retired but for the people of Pakistan you will always be regarded and respect as COAS RS. We hope and wish that upcoming Command may be like you or better than you as the benchmark you have set, this nation cannot afford any less in this regards at all.

IMHO, Raheel Pasha has been like a Vesile for the recent turning point toward the positive trend in Pak's journey. InshaAllah this trend line will only gain higher slopes as time passes. I think the most of the Pak folks are Razi with him. Taking clues from the Hadis-i Sherif, Allah-u Azimushshan is Razi with him too inshaAllah- at the end of the day it's all that matters...

Don't know i read somewhere he said that after retirement would like to serve for the welfare of martyred soldiers families.
