Nations, not armies, win wars
ISLAMABAD: Inter Services Public Relations (ISPR) Director General Syed Athar Abbas said that wars are fought and won by the nations not only the armed forces. He said that presently Pakistan Armed Forces were fighting the extremists but this war can only be won with the support of the general public. ‘If we are unable to root out this monster now, terrorism and extremism would eat up the entire body fabric of our society”, DR ISPR added.
Abbas said that it was the responsibility of the religious scholars to highlight the real values of Islam as the extremist view had badly damaged the true and soft image of Pakistan and Islam.
Only those nations make progress, which honour their religious scholars and teachers, he said adding: ‘We should make our intellectuals, religious scholars and teachers our role models’. He warned against use of media by non-state elements for their ulterior motive, as this can prove disastrous for the state. staff report
