The name India is derived from Indus, which originates from the Old Persian word Hinduš. The latter term stems from the Sanskrit word Sindhu, which was the historical local appellation for the Indus River. The ancient Greeks referred to the Indians as Indoi (Ινδοί), which translates as "the people of the Indus".

The geographical term Bharat, which is recognised by the Constitution of India as an official name for the country, is used by many Indian languages in its variations.

The eponym of Bharat is Bharata, a theological figure that Hindu scriptures describe as a legendary emperor of ancient India. Hindustan was originally a Persian word that meant "Land of the Hindus".

So....we CALL OURSELVES PAKISTANI...you jealous Indoi (accepted from what Persians called you)

India is named on Indus which now flows through middle of Pakistan, so Pakistan have some uncomfort India retaining that historical name.
Maybe pride...we can now officially go Indians are jealous of us and hence prefer calling themselves Indians rather than B-H-A-R-A-T- which is in their constitution...

Union of States mean Federal system. Even Pakistan has federal system for four provinces.
What union? listen to the guy
In North India, we don't go around speaking refined Hindi or refined Urdu
Well, language changes every 12-30 KM.... sooo Swallow it Urdu and Hindi are different :coffee:

esp since we cant even understand your language

Hell I had to copy this:

Somavaar Monday
मंगल्वार Mangalvaar Tuesday
बुधवार Budhvaar Wednesday
गुरुवार Guruvaar Thursday
शुक्रवार Shukravaar Friday
शनिवार Shanivaar Saturday
रविवार Ravivaar Sunday

I dont know a single one! PLUS....we cant read your script....enough evidence there itself to declare it different languages dont know what complex Indians have to try to keep us stuck to themselves

The Pinoys are too anglicanized to change their country's name. Just look at their own names -Spanish.

The psychics of the Pinoys leans more towards the west than towards the east. Could be because the majority are Catholics as opposed to Indonesians Muslims which are middle-eastern.

OR they are just happy with their forced conversion...Stockholm syndrome? :coffee:

Hindi/Urdu belong to same land within 12-15 km.

Greeks identified India as a geographical location, east of River Indus (this also includes the area of Indus delta) as a rhomhoid.

From the accounts of the Greeks it would appear that the ancient Indians had a very accurate knowledge of the true shape and size of their country. According to Strabo, “Alexander caused the whole country to be described by men well acquainted with it;" and this account was afterwards lent to Patrokles by Xenokles, the treasurer of the Syrian kings. Patrokles himself held the government of the north-east satrapies of the Syrian empire under Seleukus Nikator and Antiochus Soter, and the information which he collected regarding India and the Eastern provinces, has received the approbation of Eratosthenes and Strabo for its accuracy. Another account of India was derived from the register of the Stathimi, or "Marches" from place to place, which was prepared by the Macedonian Amyntas, and which was confirmed by the testimony of Megasthenes, who had actually visited Palibotlira (Patna) as the ambassador of Seleukus Nikator. On the authority of these documents, Eratosthenes and other
writers have described India as a rhomhoid, or unequal quadrilateral, in shape, with the Indus on the west, the mountains on the north, and the sea on the east and south.

The Ancient Geography of India by Major General Alexander Cunningham, Royal Engineers, TEUBNER AND CO. PATERNOSTER ROW. 1871.

According to Mahabharata, as well as the many puranas and diverse Indian history, Bharat Empire included the whole territory of the subcontinent, including parts of present day Pakistan, Afghanistan, China, Iran, Tajikistan, Uzbekistan, Kyrgyzstan, Russia, Turkmenistan, North-west Tibet, Nepal and Bangladesh, and there are some who state that Bharat means the whole world.

Unfortunately, it is the current Indians who are confused about the actual location of India and tend to call it by different names, even constitutionally.

MNLF=/=MILF=/=BIFF. And yet I've talk to moro that identified themselves as filipino. Do we also discount the things they said? And do these separtist groups represent a large percentage of the moro people themselves? And where in flying **** are the quotes that i've been asking for? especially for this

If i'm gonna rate your rambling from 1-10, yours would 12-13. THE TOPIC is about RENAMING the philippine NATION. And now your rambling about indios? Why the **** would we RENAME the PEOPLE by using a racist name?

Here's a hint, look at the bolded letters.

mnlfnet.com is run by Misuari's MNFL faction. It screams virtually on every page of the website that Moros are not Filipino. I posted links to it earlier on this thread.

Jose Rizal, Emilio Aguinaldo and Andres Bonifacio were all of Chinese mestizo descent, and they led the Philippines revolution in 1896 for independence against Spain.

Jose Rizal especially believed in pan-Malay identity as in the "malay race" (not the malay ethnic group of Malaysia). In fact some American publications from the early 1900s call you guys Malay instead of Filipino. the Spanish called you Indios and the American initially called you guys as part of the Malay race or by your ethnic group's names like Tagalog.

what do you call china ?

Zhong Guo. The sound is Zhong Grr-uo, two syllables, though ancient Chinese tends to use name of the dynasty to represent the nation.
The term "China" goes a lot farther back. The modern form of "China" was first used by Portuguese explorer in the 16th century, who themselves derived the term from the name "Chīnī" from Persian. The Persian term is derived from Sanskrit word Cīnāh that exist as early as first millennium BC. Of course, whether Cīnāh actually represent the Chinese people is entirely up to debate, but that's how the name stuck.

@Wholegrain

Good grief.. It's either your and idiot or an idiot. I really can't decide which it is. Your basically advocating that a separatist group is now represent a large percentage of the moro people or even statistic data? how about this, I WANT NUMBERS!!

Stop digging your self a deeper hole of your own ****. I don't give a **** if you call me a malay or not the TOPIC is about RENAMING a NATION you F ucktard, so stop rambling. And secondly, I also don't give a **** if our heroes have an ounce of chinese blood in their line it's not ****,ing relevant in the discussion. If you didn't know, the philippines is a major trade stop before the colonization so it's literally impossible not to have the bloodlines get a little mixed up.

Indios is a racist name that the spanish gave the natives. Why in the world would we name label ourselves using a racist name? As for the malay, the majority ARE malays you idiot. we ARE brown.

Basically, your want to rename a country because..
1. spratly Island
2. you feel the moro's are persecuted whilst ignorant that the MILF etc. groups are attacking and had kidnapped other moro people for ransom and conducted some car bombing in the civilian areas.
3. that some chinese ****,ed some random philippine native girl. therefore you have a say in philippine politics.

And you haven't even showed a single kind of authority that said or implied on renaming a country!

The MILF and the various MNLF factions obviously have too much support for the Philippines government to pursue only violence against them, thats why your government was forced to negotiate with them and sign peace deals, and even allow them to keep their military wings intact with all their weapons. Your government signed with the MNLF in 1996 and now in 2013 with MILF, and Misuari is still around with his armed men and criticizing the Philippines government and threatening to declare independence, and all the other MNLF and MILF leaders aren't disarming either. The peace deal includes MILF keeping their weapons.

What the MNLF said made sense even if you don't agree with their separatist position.

A group of foreigners invaded your country, killed the native rulers, started forcing the population to convert, then imposed a racist Caste system in which they were on top (with labels like mestizo, indios, filipino), started raping native women, named your archipelago after their syphillis infected, racist King, and called you by a racial sur for 300 years (Indios), then you not only kept the name they gave your country but decided to call yourselves Filipino as well. And the Spanish had reserved that label only for their own people born in the Philippines, its like saying you love your colonizers.

And the Moros fought Spain for 300 years so they wouldn't have their lands labeled as part of the Philippines by the Spanish.

WHY BANGSAMORO, NOT FILIPINO?-MNLF Official Website

HISTORICAL ASCENDANCY OF 'FILIPINOS', 'INDIOS' AND 'MOROS'

Historically, Philippine colonialism took ugly roots in Mindanao from the beginning of the Spanish invaders in 1521, using the castilian blade and doctrine of Christian Catholicism in forcing and deceiving the native inhabitants of Visayas and gradually Luzon and Mindanao, to abandon their freedom and indigenous religion, thus, serving solely the colonial interests of the foreign invaders.

Nonetheless, the Spanish conquerors, headed by Ferdinand Magellan, encountered stiff resistance from the Visayan natives under Rajah Kulafu ('Lapu-Lapu), who coincidentally was sent to Mactan by the Mindanao-based Sultan of Sulu in securing the tributary tax from the native Visayans being protectorate of the Sultanate of Sulu ('Sultanate of Sulu and North Borneo later in 1798'). In the epic battle of Mactan, Rajah Lapu-Lapu killed Magellan, leading the Spanish marauders to hurriedly retreat back to Spain.

From 1540 to 1560, the second and third wave Spanish invaders pursued their colonial evangelical conquests, naming the occupied islands of Visayas (later to include Luzon) 'Islas del Felipe' ('Filipinas') in honour of the immoral and racial bigot King Philip II of Spain. The aggressive Spanish colonizers further succeeded in Christianizing the Animist natives in Luzon called 'Indios', who adopted in 1872 to be addressed 'Filipinos'. Originally, the so-called Filipinos were the Luzon-born sons and daughters of the Spanish soldiers and friars, who together with the Christianized native Indios consented to become subjects of King Philip II and simply colonial slaves of Spain for about three centuries.

Thus, on this context, the original Muslim settlers of Manila and their co-religionist Muslims in Mindanao can never be identified or considered 'Filipinos' similar to the Catholic Spanish children and Christianized Indios in Luzon and Visayas. It is initially recalled that the Spanish invaders found the big group of native settlers under Rajah Matanda and Rajah Sulayman of Manila and Rajah Lakandula of Tondo to practice the same religion and culture similar to the 'Moors' or 'Maurus' of Mauretania of Iberian peninsula that conquered with Arab support and ruled Spain for 781 from July 19, 711 up to January 2, 1493.

After more than three centuries of colonial campaigns by the Manila-based Spanish invaders, who also utilized the Christianized Indios-converted-Filipinos as servant foot-soldiers, and continued series war resistance by the Moro freedom fighters in Mindanao, it is quite surprising why the Spanish colonizers were able to deceive the American invaders in 1898 to purchase to the tune of $20,000,000 the unconquered Bangsamoro (Moro Nation) domain together with Cuba highlighted in history by the so-called Treaty of Paris. Be that as it may, the injustice most profound was perpetrated against the oppressed Bangsamoro people by foreign powers relying only in the 'law of the jungle' that 'might is right', thus, merely justifying the ugliness of piratical land-grabbing and colonial slavery.

RECLAIMING BANGSAMORO HUMANITY FROM FOREIGN COLONIZERS-MNLF Official Website

In its bold capacity to deceive mankind, including the United Nations (UN), European Union (EU), Association of Southeast Asian Nations (ASEAN), Organization of Islamic Conference (OIC) and Non-Government Organizations (NGOs), the Philippine government continues in imposing its "cursed" Filipino identity upon the colonised Muslim and Highlander natives of Mindanao. ("Filipino" is from the immoral "king of inequities" Philip, who died of dreadful vinereal disease with worms all over his obnoxious body. Originally, "Filipinos" are the Christian Catholic children of the Spanish invaders and later in 1872 identified the Christianized Indios, who were used by the Spanish colonizers in their war with the Moros (Muslims) of Mindanao.)

The British were at least 100X better than the Spanish when it came to humanely treating their colonial subjects. And I'm not praising the British here, its that the Spanish did even more horrible things and you kept the name they forced on your country.

This, this is what I'm talking about. The philippines is too heavily influenced by the west via culture and religion. To effectively replace the said country's name, you have to replace the local "Superior"(take note of the quotation mark) culture and instill your own replacement. You don't name a heavily populated catholic latino country with a chinese name. Even if china had a colony there once, the Chinese culture in that example country would be just a footnote.

Why are you such an idiot? really why? I now literally believe you have the mental capacity of a troglodyte.

Tho TOPIC is about RENAMING A NATION. It's NOT about the your MORO FETISH. You've basically gone OFF-TOPIC in your OWN TOPIC.

Does your "keybord worrior jihad kruisade" gives you the warrant to rename a whole country whilst not even a member of the said country and the dominant culture there?

Here's a tip, the answers can be a NO or a NO. Look at the bolded letters.

I posted the articles by the MNLF because they raised legitimate points on the name "Philippine" and the seemingly enslaved mind of the people who use their own colonizer's imposed name on them despite atrocities committed by that colonizer. And I pointed out that those groups, the MNLF and MILF both reject the term "Filipino" for the Moro people and they command power in Moro dominated areas in the Philippines, and even the Philippines government recognizes their power through signed agreements and deals.

DO.YOU.EVEN.KNOW.HOW.TO.READ? troglodyte?

That separatist group that also has ties with terrorist group represent of WHAT? percentage % of the moro civilian people? And does this separatist group, a part of the DOMINANT GOVERNMENT and CULTURE in the capital of the COUNTRY? And does that unknown percentage % that you have yet to give has enough sway of the masses the warrant to change the name of the country?
