It's not only us who'll call you Bangladeshi, your own countrymen prefer the term Bangladeshi instead of Bengali.......as you have already seen.....
The logic behind this is simple.....
Since Bangladesh(erstwhile East Pakistan) is created on the basis of religion and Bangladeshis don't follow the original Bengali religion therefore they cannot be correctly termed as Bengalis..
You chose to separate yourself from the 'Bengali' identity....
People from West Bengal who still adhere to the original Bengali culture and religion can be correctly termed as Bengalis...
So, in order to avoid confusion and keep this thread and other future threads of yours from going off-topic, you should use the term 'Bangladeshi' instead of 'Bengali'........if you don't....you'll only create more confusion.....
Hope you understood why your using the term Bengali to describe Bangladeshis created so much confusion....
Quite a shyte load of juvenile grazing goes on in western Bengal it seems, and here we are having Indians preaching The Original Bengali Religion! for whatever its worth . A Bangladeshi is a Bangladeshi first, so is an Indian an Indian. For starters one doesnt term a Bangladeshi Chakma as You Chakma or a Srilankan Tamil as You Tamil its not rocket science. West Bengalis needs to term themselves as Bengalis to maintain their flimsy silver lining anyways, ghotis that they are.
On topic though, the other day they were airing a documentary on BBC over London traffic and a bystander suddenly started cursing their traffic jams as being the worst in the world. Which in our context would be termed as heaven like. Bashing a country when its lagging behing and still developing is typically done by ones who enjoy the fruits of their forefathers, those who went through the same saga as we do now. May be itll take atleast two more decades for others to respect Bangladesh, patience is the key.
