It's like having your plane shot down and your pilot beaten and paraded and then taking pride in the magnanimous decision by your enemy to return your pilot

Tell me how many countries can launch a 10 KG Satellite in Low Earth Orbit ? Then we will talk about putting a 1 Ton Satellite in Lunar Orbit.

I also don't understand the 1 to 7.5 year lifespan transformation. Did Chandrayaan collect some sort of loot box while floating in space?

The Lander Rover is gone forever, I am afraid. The final descending velocity was too high for a 1500kg package to remain intact on that cold, hard surface.

seems like it, i was watching it on Tv and saw a small deviation of the graph which corrected itself a second later and then came a big one after which there was no update, Knew right then and there that something is up.
I'm sure ISRO will eventually get it right. This fine braking is and important tech to have re-usable rockets which ISRO is developing, though ISRO's design is different than SpaceX, eventually it will also arrive there.
which the variables are different, concept is similar and SpaceX had many failures but they did get it right eventually and even made a video of their failures:-

nahh, only the communication is lost. the soft snowy surface of the moon broke the fall and provided the necessary cushion for the rover./s

The Chandryaan Orbitter is 100% Fine ( aAnd it will now be alive for 7.5 Years.. than Just 1 years as planned originally...... and it Just Found the Lander as well.

Its Important to note that Chandrayaan 2 Orbitter has the BEST CAMERA carried by ANY MISSION so far. ( .3 M Resolution ). Just wait for the fabulous pics.

Sivan said, "The dual-band synthetic aperture radar (SAR) on board the orbiter will be able to penetrate and see up to 10 metres of the sub-surface of the polar region and help us find water ice.

Its high-resolution camera can zoom up to 30cm, that is also being a first in the world.

And its advanced IR spectrometer (meant to measure spectral components of a physical phenomenon) can work up to 5 micron, instead of 3 micron that earlier ones had.

These payloads will give a lot of data."Clarifying that the landing operation was just a "demonstration, which we could not achieve successfully", Sivan said this "mission won't delay any other mission and that we had a lot of missions in hand".


A senior scientist told TOI "There is a possibility of finding Vikram lander with the orbiter within three days. This is because an orbiter takes three days to come to the same point. We know the landing site but as Vikram deviated from the path at the last minute during the final descent, we have to look in an area of 10 x 10 km area from three payloads SAR, IR spectrometer and camera. We have to do high-resolution imaging of the area to find Vikram."

The scientist also clarified that "If Vikram has crashlanded and turned into pieces, then the chances of finding it will be bleak. However, if the component is intact, the high-resolution imaging will capture the image of Vikram."

You're preaching to the wrong choir mate, the lander crashed, the orbiter is fine, experiments and equipment designed for the rover can't be performed, experiments and equipment designed for the orbiter are functioning properly, some components of the mission can be achieved and some can't. It's not a total loss nor a total victory.

People fight online for the silliest reasons :undecided:, like it matters what people anywhere think, GoI and ISRO, both stated their intent to further invest resources, learn whatever we can from this venture and continue their research.
