Chandrayaan 3 - a curtain raiser by ISRO

We majorly lack in powerful rockets, else we would have directly inserted CY3 into the lunar orbit, no need to sling-shot. Hopefully after the development of NGLV, this issue will be resolved. But we also need to keep in mind is that space exploration is not our priority as of now. Once we have a decent PCI(above 10K) we can dream of fully exploring the space. Even today we have very low launch rate. For now its mostly pride mission to inspire newer gen of Indians to get into space sectors.

We'll have our heavy lift and super heavy lift launch vehicles when ISRO's newest staged-combustion 2MN, SCE-200 engine eventually is operationalised.
ISRO started testing it last month.

Other side is the one that is not visible from the earth and remains dark, basically the opposite side of the moon that is visible to us. While south pole is, as one can guess, south pole.
Other side doesn't mean it's dark. It's just not visible from Earth. Sunlight riches there equally.

Methalox is still a ways out; I believe SCE-200 will come first and form the basis for NGLV.
SCE 200 can only be throttled to about 60% (initial estimates) for a reusable vehicle we will need something that can be throttled to 40% so no SCE 200 based NGLV

SCE 200 will remain there atleast till the mid 2030's

On a side note PDR of ISRO's methlox engine is complete and will come online before 2030. (This is due to the experience gained in the SCE 200 development)
We can also safely assume that NGLV is going to be operational by 2035
SCE is still not operational. And even lets say its operational by 25, it will see max of 10 years of operation, as the the experience gained in making SCE will help much faster completion of Methalox engine, hopefully by early 2030s and operation by mid 30s. Unlike the PSLV and GSLV vVkash engine which saw decades of operation, in that context the SCE usaue will be quite low, as hinted by Prof somnath himself that SCE will be replaced by Methalox!!

Just saw Sergey Lavrov congratulate the Indian Foreign Minister through GRITTED TEETH on BBC News at the BRICs conference .. it was quite funny - both "sides" looked uncomfortable - well Sergey very uncomfortable / not happy more than anyone else.
