Merkel invited Li to a shopping tour at her local super market, where she usually goes shopping. She did buy him something too

relations between germany and china are tradionally excellent. Chancellor Merkel is quite popular in China and human rights activists, uighur leaders and the Hongkong Studend leader Joshua Wong called on Merkel to critisize Li for human right problems. Merkel gives a shit about human rights in china. We do business. We dont interfer in your internal things and you dont interfer in ours. What she does is called "human rights folclore". Its always the same game. She plays it and the chinese play it too. Merkel is basicly the leader not just of germany but entire EU. Chinese diplomats know that the media expects her to say at least one sentence about human rights. So its always same. She visits China or Chinese leaders visit her, Make big contracts, the press conference with much typical diplomatic kindness.
