Ceding more space to army may harm democracy: opposition

No they are not, they are not even remotely close to what the reality is, and gladly majority of Pakistani's agree with me. The only views you hold are excuses for the incompetence and corruption of the Civilian Government. You might have a lot of tolerance for corruption, but i certainly don't. Your argument pretty much lost its credence when you sourced Owen Jones as an authority, a Britisher sitting all the way in his comfy Office in London forgetting the Ground Realities of Pakistan. Anyways, i have said more than i should have and clearly our views don't align and maybe never will. Wish you a Good Day

Yes, the irony of someone sitting all the way in Canada in comfort saying that someone sitting all the way in London in comfort cannot be an authority is not lost on me. Good day to you too! :D

.
Indeed. That's why you stated that Corruption is necessary for Development of a country. It does not get any more stupider than that. In my opinion, supporting corruption and corrupt leaders is worse than killing your own mother. But than again, there are some here who support corruption because their own families are involved in them.
Cha cha I said development is necessary to curb corruption. Baqi chotay dimagh par zaida zoor dalo gay to kahin heart attack he na ho jai

Another thing, its funny you say that about Foreign Passport Holders but your own leaders have properties and all their wealth abroad. They have no money, nothing invested in Pakistan but prefer to take their money abroad. In fact, they even get treated abroad because they don't like those dirty tacky Pakistani Hospitals because that's where the Masses go. Sorry friend, but you're by far the Biggest Chawal of this forum.
And the statements of assets submitted by them show zero domestic assets? Banda chawal marnay se pehlay kuch soch leta hay

Thanks, i travel quite often and tend to spend my Summers travelling. Mashallah with Allah's grace having a successful business IN PAKISTAN allows me that, so my skin is well invested, unlike others who have packed up and left to the US but pretend to be experts in Pakistan. Good Day Sir lol hahah

How much do they have invested abroad compared to Pakistan? And according to the Assets submitted Nawaz Sharif has probably zero dollars invested abroad, but his sons managed to make billions without doing any business. Yaar thori si tu apni izzat rakh lo, you're a laughing stock now.

Not at All

The Prime Minister is more than welcome to issue a directive, and let the Army fulfill it. If the Army does not fulfill those orders, your argument would be valid but so far that hasn't happened.
Your statement is only correct because Nawaz is completely gutless. However, I am sure you know what would have happened to him had he been the opposite.
Come to real world please.

I will give you an analogy.

You work at a company. You have a boss who everyone knows is corrupt, steals from the company, has no knowledge of how to do his work, barely ever comes to the office, and when at office he's usually sleeping. You on the other hand, are a top performer, do your job, do other peoples job, do your boss job and mostly do majority of the work. While your boss has never done his own job, and you have always done it for him, when he comes to you and tells you to make some changes which make no practical sense, how would you react?

My point being, you cannot ask for respect to be given to you. You need to earn it. Our Prime Minister has lost any moral authority to rule because the only thing he has done is engage in corruption and kick backs, while Raheel Sharif has been left to pick up the pieces. If you want respect, earn it and start delivering governance instead of crying and whining. On one hand you cannot engage in corruption and not provide any governance, and on the other ask for respect. Look at Erdogan, he delivered massive economic growth and governance, and that's how he was able to tackle the Army and make his Office powerful. Same principles apply here.

I agree with you that Nawaz is not innocent. Actually he is probably one of the most corrupt Pakistani leaders ever.

However, if a strong man comes to power do you think he will be able to make independent policies?
Would 'certain' institutions allow him to do so?

The lust for power is insatiable. Therefore, giving up that power is not as straightforward for these 'institutions' as you may assume it to be.

To be honest, I feel bad for that future strong leader. He will certainly have a lot on his plate.

That is exactly why certain institutions will make sure no strong man ever comes into power to act independently. How convenient to forget that the present PM is a creation of a previous dictator General, or that the previous government was put into power by another General.

What about Erdogon? I am sure many must have tried to prevent his rise but he miraculously beat the odds.

Erdogan is leading Turkey to disaster which is in keeping with the overall processes currently in place to remake the entire Middle East, so he is useful in the overall scheme of things. He will be cut down to size at the right time, and not before.
