i dont think it will be mass deployed, empty weight of 5KG is still too heavy for a unit...but it will be probably used by some elite mechanized infantry

I vaguely remember the American XM-29 was canned because of it's weight and inferior muzzle velocity. This Chinese OIWS is lighter than the XM-29 and only 1.75kg heavier than the standard issue QBZ-95 rifle. What I'm more concerned about is the idea of mating a grenade launcher to any gun in the first place. The added bulk (weight and especially SIZE) of the grenade launcher would always impede the soldier whether they needed it or not so I don't see this as being necessary except in urban environments. It would be more logical to only use dedicated rifle and grenade launcher for China's needs. Only countries like the United States and its allies might need this because they occupy urban environments in their numerous invasions and coup d'etats, and they have mostly rejected OIWS designs because of their weight, bulk and inferior performance.

I sincerely do hope the Pakistani Army and the PLA thinks like you do. We want all armies to be inferior to US thru their own shortsightedness.

A loaded AK-47 weights roughly 5kg, and this thing includes both the carbine, computerized sighting system and 20mm programmable air burst grenades. It's not that bad when you take those into account. The only issue I find is the bulkiness of the system.

Ill bet you dinner the 5kg is the unloaded weight the xm29 was 5.5 unloaded and went up to 8.2 kg loaded.

The current AK-47 is 3.92 loaded so your talking twice the weight.

I want the so called "3.92kg loaded AK-47" you're talking about, because it sure as hell doesn't exist on earth. Weight of AK-47/AKM with GP-25 grenade launcher:

Keep in mind, these figures have yet to include the sighting system. The Chinese OICW has a programmable air-burst 20mm munition as well as computerized sight to assist in target acquisition/observation/ranging. I'd say the weight is pretty damn good considering the amount of gadgets.
