There is an Ataturk Block of the town near my home ! :)

And there are a few streets or crossings in my city named after Turkiye like the Istanbul Chowk (Inter-Section) etc. !

From the wiki page about Jinnah street.

Following its construction during the urban development of Ankara, the Government of Turkey dedicated it in the name of the founding leader of Pakistan, Muhammad Ali Jinnah. A progressive Muslim leader, Jinnah was a known admirer of the Turkish leader Mustafa Kemal, sharing his attitudes on modernization. Jinnah desired to implement many of Kemal's policies and reforms. The dedication was also a symbol of the increasingly close relationship between Pakistan and Turkey, who developed important commercial, political and defence ties and co-operation on many bilateral and international issues. Both states were members of the Central Treaty Organization (CENTO), a military coalition of Iran, Iraq, Pakistan, Turkey, and the United Kingdom, created in 1955 and dissolved in 1979. Similarly, in the Pakistani capital, Islamabad, one of the most important roads is named after Mustafa Kemal Ataturk. The Ataturk Avenue in Islamabad, Pakistan, has the State Bank of Pakistan headquearters, Residences of the Members of the National Assembly, government lodges and offices and Islamabads biggest hotels. A road in Karachi, Pakistan's largest city, is also named after Mustafa Kemal Ataturk.

Muslim world desperately needs leaders like these again.

For me the most important muslim leaders in 20th century are:

-Mustafa Kemal Atatürk
-Muhammad Ali Jinnah
-Reza Shah Pahlavi

Dear brothers, I've a question about fulfilling my duty as a male citizen of the Republic of Turkey. I'm currently planning to perform my military service as soon as I get my diploma (approx. 1 year from now) when I've officially become a software engineer. This makes me think about some questions (each gets weirder and weirder, as I noticed after writing them);
  1. I have somewhat long hair - do I have to get a buzz cut?
  2. Can I somehow make use of my education that I've got in Sweden, or does it become irrelevant once I become a conscript?
  3. Does one get a chance to choose any kind of specialization, or is it entirely random what they make out of you?
  4. Some people (friends, family, doctors) would say that I'm kinda unstable - mentally. I've got some issues and can get kinda physically violent, but that requires some provocation and doesn't really happen out of the blue. I'm perfectly "normal" for 99.9% of the time. However, I'm taking a bunch of pills and can't really quit doing so, so I would have to get my medication during my time in uniform - is this possible? I wouldn't want the officials to know about my conditions as they probably would reject me, but at the same time I need to get my pills.
  5. What are the odds that I get to slay some cavemen nowadays? I really want to be placed in SE Turkey and get my hands dirty, but I've understood that they are only position professionals in hot areas lately, not to mention that the hunting season is closed due to "peace talks"...
I can almost recall that I might have asked some of these questions before, but I can't find that post as it must have been a long time ago. Might not even been here I've asked.

Thanks in advance!

1-) Yeap... or you can go to your post with long hair...they will shave you there. :)
2-) Completly irrelevent..
3-) Random, you can't choose anything in military.
4-) This one could be issue.... taking meds is a bit hard in military. You should decleare your medicine while you are entering...At your post, they will take your medicine and lock in to the medicine box. When you want to use one.. you have to find medic sergant (revir çavuşu) of your unit (he will be one of your friends), he will unlock the box and gave you the pill. :)

Or, you can just smuggle in the pills inside your socks.... (benim de sokmam gereken bazı haplar vardı... hapları çorabın içine koydum.. onlarıda bavulun içine... o şekilde soktum içeri, askerliğim boyuncada yetti zaten. Yakalarlarsa el koyarlar.. o zaman çarşıya çıktığın zaman alırsın cüzdanın içinde, kredi kartının falan arkasına saklayarak sokabilirsin)

5-) Very very very low.. Only chance if you are selected as a Commando.... but you know "peace talks" going on so. :meeting:

Also, try not to make a scene...in front of everyone. If you have problems with an indivual.. get him while he is alone and nobody is around...There are depot rooms.... if you can get the key from your friend..... just drag the guy to depot, lock the door... and have your way. :D

My father and some uncles also did their mandatory service (for 3 months or so) while they were living outside of Turkey, and one thing i can tell from their accounts is that you're probably not gonna see much firing action with guns. This was ~25 years ago though. Are you going for 'full-time' service once you got your diploma? @Baykuş

@Baykuş Instead of asking here you should do it in trmilitary forums there are lots of professional army members there who can inform you better than us.
