Turks are also interesting how it's possible still to follow and to have sympathy those creatures. Fortunately we got rid of their alphabet. I would be ashamed to show my screen in Ukrainian subways or cafes while typing or reading Turkish news if we used Arabic letters .
Worst mistake in Turkic history has always been taking foreign alphabets.
If not the old turkic alphabet would still be in use instead a lot of Turks either took up Arabic, Persian, Russian, Chinese and Latin.
I know Ataturk gets lots of criticism for switching to latin but the old turkic alphabet has never been in use for centuries. It would be hard to even revert to such a alphabet thats not been in use for centuries. All has been lost anyway what Ataturk did was a normal transition to new a alphabet just like when the Turks took Arabic as an alphabet when they became Muslim. From Old Turkic script to Arabic to Latin.
Im not against arabic, persian or other non turkic languages but languages and unique alphabets should not be discarded due to mainstream.
Georgians, armenians, greeks despite centuries of foreign rule they never discarded their alphabets.
Us Turks were not even ruled we were the conquerors.
I guess things happen like this. Nothing to lament as the past is the past.
We should be happy Turkish has not disappeared at all despite the alphabet changes and loan words from other languages. Because France, Spain, Portugal and Romania all lost their native languages for Latin their languages themselves all come from Latin due to Roman domination while at the same time their native languages and alphabets all got discarded.
