ust curious, but aren't the Imams or Khodjas in Turkey state sponsored?
Yes, they are. Not only state sponsored but receives their education in state universities, being qualified by the state and appointed by state. They are basically state workers.

Bro I don't say diyanet or muftuluk are useless. We need 'em but I against luxury things are given by gov. the things which are bought by our tax pays. But still I think that 6 million for a building which is built for that purpose too much. If it's for diyanet I may say that's ok.

I know that Mercedes story. Islam is not a tool to live a luxury life for those people. That pisses me of.

Anyways.
Mate, Müftülük is the extension of Diyanet.

Diyanet > City/Town Müftülük > Imams > People.

Cool!

Dude, I want to check out Turkey so bad. I want to actually go the rural areas as opposed to the big cities. I have a friend from Giresun, and he says the villages there are beautiful. :smitten:

InsAllah bro. The people of rural areas very religious people. They live the life of Islam as good as they can.

Giresun is a heaven. It's natural beauty as perfect as a paint. I had a friend from Giresun during studying in Uni.

We welcome you anytime.

Man you guys have a beautiful country. It is a big and beautiful country with mountains, desert, and lots of coastal areas.

I have a friend from Giresun. He said the villages there are beautiful. He also told me that this province in Turkey had the original cherry tree. I find that very interesting.

Also once I was watching bear grylls serial, and he showed his adventure in Turkey.

I absolutely loved all of the scenery, and also the people that made cities within mountains. Stunning, beautiful, and ingenious.

If someone asked me where I would like to go right now I would say Pakistan. If they told me, you cannot pick Pakistan, then I would immediately say Turkey. You guys have such diverse scenery, and it's so beautiful. Every region seems to hold something special. You guys should do more by introducing these ancient and visually stunning areas in your Tourism sector. To be honest when you ask someone about Turkey all they will say is 'Istanbul" but there is so much more. A lot more. I hope I get to visit your country soon dost!

@blondeturkish

Mate, you are too extreme. What should we do, demolish all the religion structure ? You might not be religious or even you might not believe in the religion itself. But there are religious people which compromise a large proportion of the Turkish society. Secularism is the separation of religion from the state affairs.

Our constitution, our civil codes, rules, regulations are not based on religion. But state also guarantees every Turkish citizens religious needs. You can be Muslim, Jewish, Christian, Deist, Atheist, etc.... You are under the guarantee of state.

That depends on the area. The place my mother came from is not that religious for example. Neither does the place my paternal family came from. It can change from place to place, village to village.

.
nope no religous organization should receive money from the state, and not when that state is secular it contradicts the secular values..
Should have been better if those institutions being regulated by Sheiks, Mullahs, Al-Qaeda like organizations ?
well your giving me excuse my friend if your breaching hate speech weather you receive money form the state or non state you should be closed and be put in jail its that simple my friend, you do'nt call your self a secular state and then have a reigous institutions which has a 6billion budget thats far bigger than the ministry of interior and education, thats insane..

Yeah you are right.

That is why Atatürk founded Diyanet İşleri (Religious Affairs Institution) to cut Tarikats/Cemaats hands and arms on Religion, and blocks one possible FETÖ to born and grow in state.

And today we see that Atatürk was right. Weak Religious Affairs Institution led us see one FETÖ Terror Organisation. There are still threat from Tarikats/Cemaats such as Süleymancılar etc. State should rule the Religion and Imams/Priests and block others' possible propaganda over religion to manipulate it.

If it has been that simple, Europe wouldn't be producing Jihadists.

First learn the definition of secularism instead of repeating the same words like a parrot.

I agree except this part ?

FETÖ grossly infiltrated during the AKP's rule. Not one officer had been thrown out of the military because of "Gericilik" when AKP come to rule. MIT stopped sharing intelligence about FETÖ members in military.

Diyanet didn't get weakened in the AKP rule. AKP collaborated with FETÖ until they turned on them in 2013.

Yes, i perfectly know that. I should have said "weak and non-independent" since strong Religious Affairs could be also dangereous in non-independent hands such as pre-2013 AKP era.

i'm not against religion under goverment control. what i'm against is religion influencing goverment institution and their 6bilion budget...

.
that i'm against is religion influencing goverment institution
And on what basis are you saying this ?

and their 6bilion budget...
Look.....what number should be their budget ?

If you can give a detailed analysis on the budget of diyanet and say, "look, on this they have over-expenditure.". Let's say they had numerous foreign visits, giving formal cars to Imams, or stuff like that. I will agree.... But saying their budget is too much, i will say "relative to what" ?

I also question your sincerity for saying this.
then have a reigous institutions which has a 6billion budget thats far bigger than the ministry of interior and education, thats insane..

In 2015

Diyanet's budget was 5.7 Billion
Ministry of education had 62 Billion.
