it bring economy... yes, to MP Pon Rathakrishnan.... do you know the proposed location of the project ?? tell him if he's capable of building this project their.!! no, why because near by the project location there's a very famous hindu temple called maindaikadu bhagavathi amman, that had to be evacuated so they opposed... But all you people have no problem in removing churches, masqus, schools and hospitals along with lacs of people... Why???? and the proposed location has a natural harbor which was used way back from King of travancore, while my village has shallow water...

I do not know the details about the project and your post seems genuine. About your question about the temple, the temple is more than 500 years old and cannot be shifted. A Hindu temple is a house of god and the property belongs to god.

A church or a mosque however is only a facilitation center to come together and pray to god and can be shifted easily.

I am not advocating for this port, just making you understand the fallacy in comparing a hindu temple with other religious structures, including gurudwara.

If you are talking about their archaeological value, they can be dismantled and relocated and rebuilt in a different place.

No one is happy about any change. That is the nature of men and their society. That does not mean progress does not happen. Even for building a simple Road, houses and structures are removed, moved.

In any case my point was about the difference between the various "houses" of god., nothing to do which this project. The opposition to it seems to be founded on facts and not faith.

I understand that this is a case of uprootment of poor fishermen etc due to land reclamation by Government. Still, I think it is the duty of locals and social organizations and not the Church.

Over 20 Catholic Bishops from across the State are expected to observe a fast to protest against the proposed Enayam International Container Transhipment Terminal (EICTT) here on April 5.

C. Stanly Sundar, Convenor of the People’s Movement Against Enayam International Container Transhipment Terminal (PMAEICTT), told The Hindu on Monday that 19 Catholic Bishops across the State and three to four other Bishops from Kanniyakumari and neighbouring Kerala are expected to participate in the protest organised at the Carmel School here.


Madurai Archbishop Anthony Pappusamy would preside over the protest, he added.

There are COURTS in this Country to protect the "rights of the poor", or have the priests no faith in the Judiciary ?

As for your snide remarks on Hinduism, God does not need a "house" to stay, Hindus need a house of god where a Hindu can VISIT God and seek his audience and tell him his troubles directly WITHOUT a Middle man like a "priest and their Flock".

I'm from enayam.. and i can tell you we're a pure catholic community.. things like this will go through the church not by individual, that's how things always run here... everyones land here belongs to the church.

and let me tell you there's no poor here as for as i know.. and you're being misinformed about only church taking a front chair... No Muslim cleric are always with us from the day one.. we catholics and muslims went on to many protest against this project from end of 2015 but you get the news only in 2017..
