Your criticism -- that she 'forgot' -- is valid only if what she did was unique, and if it was unique, then China would be in the moral right and standing on moral high ground to deny Lin entry into China.
You criticized her because you did not have the full understanding of how politics, especially international politics, are often injected into things seemingly benign and devoid of politics. Unfortunately, that is not the case and never will be the case whenever countries compete against each other, even in beauty pageants. This is not Ms. Jones vs Ms. Smith. This is Miss USA vs the rest of the world. Or Miss China vs the rest of the world. Or Miss Russia vs the rest of the world.
So yes, it is absurd to say that Lin was wrong in using a beauty pageant as a platform to speak her political views. She has the right to speak, albeit that right is granted outside of China, and China have the right to respond in any manner, from verbal assault to murder if it is China's fancy.
But do not say that Lin was wrong.
