The successful long-term marriages last due to either cultural/societal or religious/moral restraints. Right now you're thinking of company, friendship and all that ridiculous things (ridiculous IMO)...you have no idea what you or she will want down the lane. "Marriage" was basically nothing more than a social contract in the olden days because of primitive brutal societies. An exchange of services basically. A woman offered her "goods" for pleasure and procreation whilst the man offered protection, shelter, food etc. There was a demand and supply and therefore the "marriage worked".

This is 2015. You have the police...you have the dishwasher/washing machine...you have freedom/laws and regulations...you have independence...you have opportunities...most of all you have equality amongst the sexes. People are exploring new horizons and experiencing new things to feed their sense of excitement/thrill.

It is only with gradual freedom that the true nature of human beings is surfacing.
