Dear Brothers!
I've been studying at university and doing BS (Software Engineering). I want to know whether I'll be able to appear for joining Pakistan Army after completing this degree or not?
Kindly guide me what's the scenario of joining Pakistan Army with this degree?
&
If I'm able to appear, then please explain by which course I'll be appearing for Pakistan Army, through PMA LONG COURSE (2 years) or GRADUATE COURSE (1 year) ?

Regards:
FAROOQ

Waiting for your kind response...

You can join Pakistan Army via Short Service Commission, after completing your BS Software Engineering degree. You will join Corps of Signals.

I think you will have to drop that nationality before you apply, or may be, after you're selected. The senior members on this forum can guide you better.

SSC will give you the rank of Captain after 6 months training at PMA. You can also apply for Regular PMA Long Course. I would prefer you to go for SSC (short service commission) and make use of that software engineering degree.

You can join through the SSC, but your career progression will be limited. Better yet would be to work as a civilian in one of the defense establishments, like PAC/NESCOM/AWC etc

I also want to join Pakistan army through SSC after completing BS electronic engineering, what to you mean by "limited career progression" ? does that means PA Engineers don't even go to higher ranks such as Major Generals or Lieutenant Generals ?

Yes that is what i mean. There won't be many opportunities, you get promoted when there is an opening. There is an opening when someone gets promoted and in their place you get promoted. SSC officers, especially those in Engineering/Medical corps are limited in numbers, it's just how the Army works. Army is majority of fighting officers. So if you take up a career that is not in high demand, you career progression is limited.

And what about PAF, does it also follow the same method ?

@Donatello !
Thank You for that info :)
Brother, could you please tell me if I can join Pakistan Army through GRADUATE COURSE (1 year) after completing my BS (Software Engineering) Degree or not ?

A simple answers

a) You need Education credentials (University Education is wonderful
b) Plus you need to have Pysical Fitness & Athletic ability as defined in listing
c) You need to Apply

Its not that difficul , Army is always looking for Bright Educated folks who also have Athletic ability to be soldier.

If Army is looking for 4 year degree and you have 3 month diploma that does not cut it but you may qualify for another lower rank role

1.6 KM run in 9 Minutes (If you don't run daily you might not be able to pass this test easily about 6 full circle around football field at fast pace )
15 Push Ups in 2 min
Chin ups are hard if you don't do weights or train daily
etc ....

If after reading the above posted "REQUIREMENTS" sample (few posts above by F16-Viper) anyone feels they don't understand how it works ...

They probbaly do not have mental ability to be a Pakistani Soldier, you got to be able to think logically after reading FULL details of what Army is looking for

Last thing Army needs is soldiers that are inside Al Khalid tank and asking command center where is the button to launch the weapons as , they get confused looking at the instructional manual

A higher grade degree normally results in "HIGHER rank starting role"

But last but not leaste some of the bravest cadets may have come from modest educational background , modest educational background but good athletic body and fast minded fellows

I think so. Your best source of information would be to visit an ISSB center and ask them the details. The general route for armed forces is to go to the respective academy (Army, Naval or Airforce) and then get commissioned from there. SSC is one route to go if you have already done your Bachelors degree, but like i said, your progression would be limited.

So think carefully if you want to join the forces. I think a better way could be joining the national defense establishments like at Kamra/Wah etc

I wanted to do the same as well, complete my engineering degree and then get SSC, but i changed my mind due to the fact that my career would be limited.

Like i said, Army does allow you to join through SSC and that's because they require specialist skills which Army may not be able to provide on it's own via PMA Kakul. But there is no guarantee that you will be able to make a career out of it for the next 30 years or so. Even regular army officers, a lot of them retire on the rank of a major. Some who stay long enough are usually those who get routine promotions and thus can rise to the rank of a brigadier or more. It is entirely up to you to make sense of it and if you really want to do it.
