. . .
I was in Cairo a week ago and dropped by the museum. There's a lot of propaganda related stuff. By and large the local population is still extremely traumatized by the outcome of the war.

Everything in the name of Arab nationalism.
@Energon any reference of PAF and his pilots in this museum?

I didn't get the opportunity to go through the whole museum.

It's actually a funny story. The guide first and foremost took us to the war trophy area where they had a few British and American made tanks and artillery pieces. There were also a few anti-semitic references which weirded me out a bit. The next thing I know, every man woman and child who could speak a word of English surrounded me and let me in on their views of American and Israeli foreign policy and how they are going to destroy them (and that I should get out of America as soon as possible and beg the country of my heritage for a citizenship). Since time was limited, the discussion was getting a bit awkward and the entire place seemed to be one giant propaganda tool, I didn't think it was worth staying and looking at the whole thing.

Egypt is an extremely militarized country. There is a very heavy army presence wherever you go and they watch you like hawks if you are an American. Also some prominent areas like the Aswan High Dam and the massive forts built by the Islamic rulers (including Salah'din) are controlled by the military. I really loved my stay in Egypt, but found the military presence annoyingly stifling.

Mind elaborating your definition of 'propaganda'? I think what I hear on FOX or Yahoo News etc are real propanganda.

the 1973 war is believed very strongly in Egypt that it has been won. Which is somewhat true their army marched and they took back their sinai and the ceasefire came only when Israel asked for it not to forget they were not fighting Israel alone in that war the US gave them an air-bridge for equipment etc.

So yeah they believe they took back their Sinai and won that war.

. .
Let's confirm: who else here believes the cease-fire occurred "when Israel asked for it"?

As I said according to Egyptian beliefs. In my opinion however the two armies were at a stand still. neither had the advantage nor the upper hand.
