What's new

By 2020, India will emerge ahead of China on several counts in economy

....I don't know if I should laugh or cry.

I live in Canada with a high Chinese population.
You are trying to convince me that what I am seeing with my own eyes is incorrect.

In Canada Chinese people are flooding the real estate market and buying homes for millions of dollars. The Huawei princess has 2 homes in Vancouver that are worth 10s of millions of dollars.

It is so common to see 18 year old Chinese kids driving around in super cars (and often crashing them) that the locals actually joke about it.

So please, knock it off with the fake news and accept reality from first hand accounts.

They do the same shit over here.
:blah:
Okay 50 cent man, you have earned your social credit for the day.
You have successfully argued what a local Canadian experiences while sitting in an IT center in Beijing.

They buy houses as a way of money laundering.
in CPC China, the one man in Beijing can take away all their money on a whim as there is no rule of Law there.
So smart Chinese people funnel their money out of the country to a place that has rule of law, as a way to save it from the CPC.

Downside is that it ruins the local's ability to buy and live in their own cities.

It makes me so angry that young folks can’t afford to buy a house after University graduation because the house prices are so expensive compared to the annual salaries of most people. Our corrupt politicians should have stopped this scam a long time ago.

oh tell me about it.
I am one of those people.
I make a decent middle class salary but an average home is so unaffordable that even if I made double my pay, I would still not be able to afford it.

In the mean time, do you know how many Chinese people I have met who have their wives and children living in million dollar homes while the father is in China making money?

The model is to become successful enough to move to the west and become a paper citizen/resident. Then go back to China and run factories/what ever
This way, if they big man in Beijing tries to take your money for any reason... well jokes on him, all the money is in the west.

I blame our corrupt politicians. They could stop this scam in a second but refuse as it might anger the Communist despots in China.

I’ve heard birth tourism by Chinese is rampant in the US. Pregnant Chinese mothers go to the US on a visitor visa and give birth at a Chinese clinic in California and the new born automatically becomes an American citizen. So now they qualify for welfare benefits. Most of them go back to China and collect welfare payments from the US taxpayers. Citizens work hard to pay taxes to pay welfare to Chinese living in China. This is a complete scam that should make everyone angry.

I know what I am talking because I am an educated person, while you are talking based on your bias, prejudice and limited knowledge. :)

You being local doesn't guarantee you know better. You are right about many rich chinese living in Canada, but you are wrong when you say they are willing to sacrifice anything for living in west.

I my self have visited Canada, US and Europe several times, and to be frankly not interested to live there except I get job offered with paycheck significantly better than what I can get here. Canada is very interesting for me as a tourist not as an immigrant.

I am telling you why:

1. The weather is so cold; only convenient during summer. Not convenient walking outside due to cold.
2. It is often cloudy and a bit dark, not good for mood.
3. Quite often rainy. Not convenient for going outside.
4. Many immigrants (legal) are complaining and struggling to get decent job inspite of high education and lot of experience in their country of origin, due to lack of Canadian job experience.

I enjoy living here in Jakarta, Indonesia. The weather is OK and bright, I have family and relative here, and I earn better here than I could earn in Canada. So sorry to say it is wrong to say that most chinese or asian are willing to sacrifice anything in order to live in Canada, except those who are desperate from many developing countries (esp India, including Bangladesh). [emoji23] If I miss Canada I will go there as a tourist, maybe stay for 2 or 3 months.

Oh big time.
It's an issue in Canada too.
A ring was busted a little while a go where these Chinese guys had a home, nurse etc for paying Chinese customers.
The Mainland Chinese customer would pay this company, and they would put her in a nice home with all the care a pregnant woman needs. Then when the time came, they would send her to the hospital and give birth In Canada.

"Ms Li admitted that between 2013 and 2015, her company You Win USA Vacation Services would charge Chinese nationals - including government officials - between $40,000 and $80,000 for coaching in how to have a baby in the US."
