What's new

British Pakistanis hit hard by multiple crises

can you elaborate here ?

Pakistanis must have a serious thing for evading the taxman

Yes correct . We pay cash you see on nearly everything we buy whereas Indians go by the books and finance everything even the coffee in the morning is on credit card .

Sorry confused
Which Pakistani ethnicities are good /bad?
What are their characteristics?
Just curious

The Indian ones.

You offer no reference for those figures. Where do they come from ???????
They bear no resemblance to a average house price today.
Property is only part of someone's wealth.

In your fantasy you imagine that Pakistani's are UNIQUE in that respect. Africans, West Indians, Bangladeshis and Indians ALSO do the same and to the same or even greater extent.

I live in Manchester, I KNOW which community is prosperous and which isn't. The govt figures back me up not what I thought up while having a shit.

Go and see Pakistani's lining up at the food banks

Here you go chap and your post on food banks is an outrageous lie just like your lie on Pakistani minorities and your lie on rishi sunak doing pooja outside number 10 . You have an agenda shall I show you the daily que outside the Sikh gurdwaras daily feeding Indians there only hot meal of paani wali dhall & 1 roti a day .

hahaha - Pakistani's at a food bank. Here i was thinking you were one of the sensible ones - turns out your a lying bakht too.

Go to alum rock or oldham and you will find either drug addicts or drug dealers.

Its a humiliating experience. The 7/7 bombers were from Leeds and they came down to london to do their dirty work. My brother narrowly escaped. Good for nothing these people.
Alum Rock might be a bit grimy but it's anything but poor. Just one road, Alum Rock Road is a 2 mile stretch of hundreds of Pakistani owned businesses. They're all filled with shoppers too. Wedding clothes, regular clothes, food, household items, takeaways, restaurants. High end, low end - but all turning a profit. The wedding clothes shops are running on business from around the country, but all the other shops are running on the spending of local people. How poor can it be? Have you tried parking in the surrounding streets, more than half the cars are German.

I've never been to Oldham.

If they had no money how the hell do truck loads of them , afford to fly out groups of 6/7 family members from busy Manchester airport ripped off Islamabad expensive air route £ 1000 per ticket ? Then build mansions out there and return to U.K. problem is, nobody really knows Pakistan’s U.K. real net worth. All these asylum seekers & Eastern Europeans are being housed by Pakistani land lords up north in their thousands? They can not be doing that bad economically. And also , Nobody ever talks about the squalor and poverty east London Bangladeshis are living majority of them are in social council fiats!!! In the wealthiest capital in the world.

Great question. We also fly out from Birmingham and Heathrow. If anyone wants to guage the state of the economic levels of British Pakistani, go to Mirpur, Chakswari, Dadyal, Jehlum, GujarKhan, Dina, - even Islamabad during the summer months, July to September and see if there are any less of us there than normal, see if we are spending any less money. Thats when you see the real scale of the wealth.

There is a youtuber called Callum Abroad, he's recently been to Mirpur and attended some weddings, visited some peoples homes, chilled out with some British Pakistani boys, watch his recent videos to see where our money goes and to what scale.

These articles by treacherous media of Pakistan are not aware of ground realities in UK. Instead they spin a pack of lies to headline grabbing to attack the Pakistan mirpur community.

My personal experience is that I have jobs and a limited company paying me over £250k per year (alhumdulilah!). My friends and family members are all making a killing as well since COVID came along.

I don't see poverty but increasing wealth in the UK of our people.

Sad that 2 rupee dawn reporters are promoting this fake news.

There is some poverty - if you work on minimum wage, you are gonna suffer economically. The truth is though that the majority of our community is at least middle class.

I don't know anyone poor. Of the 20/25 Pakistani boys in my year group at school all those years ago, 3 have not made anything of themselves ( one of these three suffers from extreme mental health problems), 1 passed away due to illness, 1 I've lost touch with entirely. The rest are at least middle class. 1 is a multi millionaire. Funnily enough some of the richer ones are the boys who were bums at school. One made himself a career in finance and one went into business in property and cars, both have a lot of money now. Never expected them to do well.

I'm from a very average midlands town.

It started off with our elders needing to fund live back home and here. it's caught on though. If it's good enough for the billionare businessman, it's good enough for me.

Gotta hide the Lamborghini and build a mansion back home innit . Lol

Seriously

  • Households with an Indian, Pakistani or White British head had the highest net property wealth (medians of £176,000, £115,000 and £115,000 respectively) and were the most likely of all ethnic groups to hold net property wealth, with 80% (Indian head), 73% (Pakistani) and 69% (White British) of households having net property wealth.

The big difference between Pakistanis and Indians is declaration of wealth to the taxman .
Firstly engaging with a troll that has amalgamated 23 negative and numerous bans is a battle not worth participating in. Anyone stating Pakistanis are queuing up at food banks and are starving in the UK is a festering liar and here to just troll. In the real world - London has become an attraction for Indians overstaying their visas etc and working for £4 to £5 per hour which is screwing the market up as well.

You have a point about deceleration and indulging in avoiding tax paying. I know numerous Pakistanis that specialize in finding loop holes and avoid paying tax. The problem is these are generally small business outfits - like shopkeepers take aways etc. - was in Allum Rock yesterday sort plenty of street action.

We run a business that last year showed profits of 1.6 million profit - we sadly had no choice but to pay tax on that about £300,000 . This year we have approached KPMG who will advise us on how to best utilise the parameters we are set in and pay the minimum! Indians are very active in this and an Indian associate advised me to do this.

Then you get the likes of Sunak and his Mrs that blatantly bend the rules and pay next to nothing. Now thats white collar fraud and these loopholes must be stopped.

I feel urban Pakistanis don't have the hustle like some of these rural guys, we are satisfied very easily (that includes me), All my sisters and brothers are at least masters level educated but we are stuck doing Jobs for the big man and that's the story of most in the Pakistani community here, that entrepreneurial mindset is not there- barely anyone is doing business and that annoys me
I think we need to get into owning businesses too

I can exactly relate to this sentiment. I was the first one in my family to start a business. Everyone looked up to me and hailed me as a path breaker (although I didn't want this). I failed miserably in business. I felt as if I just didn't let myself down, but so many people who thought that they too could become entrepreneurs. My failure became a sort of example to many in my family to continue with their salaried way of life, LOL. But it has got to start somewhere. If all of us keep thinking this way, we will only give more credence to the caste system, that only certain people are born to do certain things. It has been disproven in my family itself, with we being Brahmins and a large proportion being in the armed forces and BSF, mostly in soldiering roles, not the strategising desk job kinds.

That's just income that's being shown to the taxman.

Interesting to see how many Chinese and Indians are in the highest bracket.

. .
Are you implying that Pakistanis steal and cheat on their taxes while Indian and Chinese are honest?
I know for a fact we do.

Others aren't innocent of it either - anyone who gets the opportunity does it.

The difference is how you do it. If you're self employed you can not declare a portion of your cash earnings.

If you have a small business or are a contractor you setup as a limited company, pay yourself minimum wage, pay cooperation tax on the rest, invoice even your lunch as an expense and then you can loan money to your family members and eventually write off the loan or extract money by paying a much smaller dividend tax.

If you have a medium size business you can setup as multiple smaller companies to avoid paying VAT.

If you have a larger company you can take advantage of off shore loopholes. You can setup multiple companies and buy/sell amongst your own companies. You can invest in expansion and claim it as costs not profits.

Only the salaried class don't game the system.

I'm a Jutt not a brahmin  so I have no excuse to settle down as a salaried man and bow down to the big man (proves the background theory wrong lol)- but all my family is pretty much in the same boat unfortunately
Only difference being even much more lazy and settled down with a state Job unlike them who stayed in the big city and are working private job's

I feel happy, live in suburbs, in middle class but somewhere I am like I should do more but I lack the hustle or the motivation to break the cycle

I feel happy, live in suburbs, easily in middle class but somewhere I am like I should do more but I lack the hustle or the motivation to break the cycle
There is no need to struggle with this feeling. It has been drilled into the mind of current generation that if you are working a job, which in contrast to you travelling and fornicating all the time, then you are a loser. Everyone cannot be a business owner. They will have someone working for them. It is perfectly acceptable and even necessary.
