British olympic team success and news

I think we will remain 2nd at the end of this Olympics.:D
GB need three more medals to beat their own record 65 medals in London Olympics 2012. Britain have never finished above China in the final medal table since china joined Olympics in 1984 so last 2 days will be interesting. If Mo farah win gold tonight then china will be behind GB in three golds and 4 silver golds and Sunday is last day

Exceptional performance from Farah wins 65th medal for Team GB
That was the perfect approach. He waited, held the pace steady and then attacked. That's four Olympic gold medals - the most any Brit has won on the track. It also means GB have won 65 medal at this summer's Olympics. That equals the total won at London in 2012.

Yes indeed, he is a master in controlling the race according to his pace, it's almost like all the others at the back are dancing to his tune. Like a master puppeteer. Reason I call him BABA MO.:chilli:

Plus our girls just won bronze in 4×400m making it 66 medals for us. So we just made history winning more medals abroad 4 years after hosting an Olympic games:D.
Think we just nailed our number 2 position. :enjoy:

.
A very strong performance by Team GB's women in the 4x400m final. It didn't look as though bronze would be possible halfway through the race before Emily Diamond turned on the turbo and Christine Ohuruogu ran strongly over the last 400m. A job well done

Mo Farad is a beast.............

I ran 5000 km myself in my younger age, where did he find the second wind to win the race every time in the last few lap.?

I wonder how big is his lung?? And how much air can it hold? This is just amazing they can run the last 400 in a 5000 meters like actually running for 400....

.
Last day to watch for Team GB.

Men's super Heavyweight Boxing, Team GB's Joe Joyce are in the final for 91Kg + men's boxing.

He is not just fighting for his own glory, a win in this match, Team GB will be guaranteed second spot behind Team USA in gold medal tally. It's a matter of national pride.

Go Team GB, Go Joyce

Man, this was the biggest disappointment in this tournament for this guy. I don't know why he didn't back off during the last second of the match. Maybe it's due to his lack of experience or something. This is the type of defeat that Will haunt him for years to come.
However, a silver medal is not bad, it's still a good result. :)

Well done our girls in 4 x 400m, thank you Eilidh Doyle, Anyika Onuora, Emily Diamond and Christine Ohuruogu.

Great Britain's women claimed bronze in the 4x400m relay at the Rio Olympics, winning the country's 66th medal of the Games and surpassing their total from London 2012. The quartet ofEilidh Doyle, Anyika Onuora, Emily Diamond and Christine Ohuruogu came home in a time of three minutes 25.88 seconds to finish behind defending champions the United States and Jamaica.

Christine Ohuruogu felt like the devil was on her shoulder around the last bend, spurring her on to win 4x400 metres bronze as Great Britain's athletics team r eached their Rio 2016 medal target.

Shortly after Mo Farah retained 5,000m gold to complete the double-double, the quartet of Eilidh Doyle, Anyika Onuora, Emily Diamond and Ohuruogu took to the track.

The last British athletes in action at the Olympic Stadium brought the curtain down in style, winning a first women's 4x400m medal since Barcelona 1992 by crossing the line third in three minutes 25.88 seconds.

The oldest medal in the games is from TEAM GB!!!! Well done Nick for your show jumping gold.

Show jumper Nick Skelton became Britain's second-oldest Olympic gold medallist in his seventh Games.

The 58-year-old, who initially retired 16 years ago after breaking his neck in two places, claimed individual gold after a six-way jump-off.

It is Britain's first individual show jumping medal since Anne Moore's silver in 1972, and adds to Skelton's win in the team event at London 2012.

The victory takes Britain's Rio tally to 23 golds and a total of 57 medals.

Joshua Millner, who claimed shooting gold in 1908 at the age of 61, is the only person older than Skelton to have won gold for GB.

special guide.

"You always dream about it but when it actually happens it is real life," Skelton told BBC Radio 5 live.

"I have been thinking about this and planning it since London four years ago.

"I knew if I kept my cool this horse would do it. I knew if I did not make a mistake, he wouldn't either."

Skelton, riding Big Star, went clear in both opening rounds and did so again as the first to go in the jump-off.

His gold medal was confirmed when Canada's Eric Lamaze clipped the penultimate fence and had to settle for bronze.

Peder Fredricson of Sweden claimed silver, and Briton Ben Maher, riding Tic Tac, finished in 25th place.

Skelton's is Britain's second gold in the equestrian events following Charlotte Dujardin's victory in the individual dressage.

Great Britain's Bianca Walkden won Olympic taekwondo bronze in Rio, but compatriot Mahama Cho narrowly missed out on a medal as he finished fourth.

Walkden, 24, landed two well-timed head shots as she beat Morocco's Wiam Dislam 7-1 to win her +67kg bout.

Walkden, meanwhile, beat London 2012 champion Milica Mandic of Serbia 5-0 but lost 4-1 to China's Zheng Shuyin in a golden-point round in the semi-finals.

"I came here for gold but my coach said to me you have to go out there and fight for it," Walkden said.

"It's still an Olympic medal. In Tokyo I'll be trying to go a little bit further and try to get gold. It's only four years away."

I'm sorry but Joe Joyce was robbed....That first round going to the Frenchman was shocking. The second was close, but Joe had the third. The French guy just covered up. The judges paid no attention to Joe's body shots and higher work rate. Had this been a pro fight, Joe would have KO'ed guy by the fourth round.
Unlucky big joe, thank you for fighting for us.

The boxing judges in this competition were really bad. Many people already complained about their poor decisions during the entire tournament. Hopefully the Olympic federation will look into this.
Congrats to Joe though, you still did the nation proud. A silver medal is not bad, eventhough you deserved the gold .:)

Joyce was the aggressor in the opener, landing first with a nice right hand, and pushing forward looking to squeeze shots through his opponent's tight guard.

The heavier shots continued to come in from the Briton, but Yoka enjoyed persistent success behind his left jab, which was enough to shade it on two of the three judges' cards.

Joyce continued his relentless push forward in the second, with Yoka a little looser and relying more on snaking counter-shots, again catching the judges' eyes.

It effectively meant Joyce needed a knockout to win the last, and despite his best efforts Yoka survived to take the victory on two of the three judges' cards.

Once again, we know, the rest of the world knows who won this.

Well folks team GB has 67 medals now, our greatest olympic games ever. But I think the best news is that our team is very, very young and majority of our medal winners will be back in 2020. The games will be in.......you guessed it the Land of the Rising Sun.

i'd also like to goodbye to two of our greatest athletes.

Mo Farrah has decided that this is his last Olympic games. However, he has not ruled out competing in the tokyo Olympic marathon. But this is his last time on the track. Thank you Mo. I know people say we will never see your kind again, but out there amongst our 65 million people there are children that have been inspired by yourself and will run. You have been wonderful.

Every poster needs to do a parting Mobot.

We also say goodbye to our queen of the track Christine Ohuruogu. This is the last time we will see her compete in anything. Thank you darling, and again you have inspired many.

Team GB final medal positon.

http://www.bbc.co.uk/sport/olympics...rn-ireland#great-britain-and-northern-ireland

The United kingdom has 67 medals.

27 Gold
23 Silver
17 Bronze.

We are second in the table and we tie with China (third place) in terms of diversity of disciplines. Our athletes won medals in 19 sports. The US leads the way with most diverse country with 23.

I'll end with a patriotic song, squadron 633 the soundtrack for the film The Battle of Britain.

Oh the first post in this epic thread was "here come the Brits" and in tribute, here indeed come the Brits lol.
