Scotland is different case. Scotland was an independent country. Scotland became part of UK because it sees British king as its own. Taiwan was never an independent country. More that that. Taiwan belonging to China is based on the Yalta system. Which was built after World War 2. If the world denies China's sovereign over Taiwan, Poland shouldn't have its west territory. France shouldn't have its northeast territory. USA shouldn't have some islands in Pacific.

In the grand scheme of things every country will cease to exist at some point.
