Having been to instability and Ankara, I must confess its quite modern and I felt like I was more in a European city than a middle Eastern country. Turkey is one of the few truly secular countries in the region. Even in terms of the mentality and character of the people I interacted with there. I think other Muslim countries can learn a thing or two from Turkey.

Everything will be done online soon in Turkey already I can login online and see if I need to be in court or what property I own. Pretty cool.

Also they are talking about removing the need for passports to travel abroad, because the new ID cards are very advanced they have fingerprints and even bone scan.

Soon they will insert DNA to these id cards for those willing to do the test, so no passport.

I have been to middle eastern countries, I can say besides Israel most isn't even worth visiting, the mentality is messed up very different from Turkey they don't act like muslims at all. They just talk a lot in forums, in reality arabic world is like a different species.

Thanks, if you've been to arabic countries as well you can clearly see the total difference in mentality, we have the european mentality in Turkey.

Only thing we have common with arabs is religion.

The success and progress of Turkey right now is also proof of different DNA.
Only successful arab countries if you can call them successful are those with oil/gas, rest can't product sh**.

Yes its true that Turkey is still behind European standards, but the country is at least moving forward. Turkey might not be anywhere as Liberal as Europe, buto Compared to Arab countries(KSA and some gulf States) , Iraq, Syria, Yemen, Pakistan, bengladesh, Iran, etc Turkey could be likened to Europe. The Turkish people are free to vote in elections which are mostly free from coercion and obvious rigging. Nobody has to worry too much about getting steamrolled by a tank or strung up by the neck simply for voicing their disdain from the government. Also Turkish Muslims, who make up almost 99% of the nation, can drink without fear of repercussion. The Constitution is secular and religious headgear and garments was, up until recently, banned from being worn in state-run institutions and courts.
However, from my experience Coastal cities, like Istanbul, Izmir, Bodrum, and Antalya(the main places I visited) , are heavily influenced by Europe and maintain strong secular ideals. Some women wear hijab but many do not, just as many men drink but many also do not. During the Gezi Park protests in 2013(the year I visited the country) , I met Turks of all different religious bents and orientations who insisted that the government was obliged to remain secular and protect the choices of each individual citizen. This is something that struck and surprised me. However, from what I heard, the situation and politics of Turkey shift more towards the right as you move inland, to the small cities, towns, and villages of Anatolia. There are folks who detest Jews for example, consider Erdogan a sultan, more conservative and buy into AKP islsmist party(even though some say that is just in name). It will be good to know from Turks here if the later part is true.

The Turkish people are free to vote in elections which are mostly free from coercion and obvious rigging. Nobody has to worry too much about getting steamrolled by a tank or strung up by the neck simply for voicing their disdain from the government.

That is the factor behind Turkey's progress. Other Muslim countries have paid servants of big powers as their 'leaders'. There you cannot even imagine an election free from coercion and obvious vote rigging but those election dramas are certified by the champions of democracy as great achievements.
