I was speculating based upon his statement and those of his lawyer and the way the entire trial has been carried out.

There's a joke going around about the GHQ leaders, they come everyday to GHQ just for the golf and afternoon tea. I think he must have said that to their face.

He was retired now, it was his right as a Pakistani citizen to question the performance of the military.

They revoked his retirement conveniently and said aha now we can try you in military court because the civilian court has been embarrassing the military institutions again and again.

Well the issue is that PA as an institution does what GHQ does. The very fact that someone spoke up, after retirement, shows that people in the middle and the bottom of the food chain are still honorable people which makes up for 99% of all personnel, this 1% is where you need to investigate and sort out.

The Army reports to the PM and he needs to take charge of this.

But yes in the case of this person Suo moto action is required to pull the case out of military courts and into a civilian courts. Who knows maybe the Brig isn't being honest, but we'll only know that when an impartial competent authority conducts the trial, not the adversarial party.

And if the charges are found fabricated a serious trial of the higher ups involved need to be done, since they exposed Pakistan and brought the question of its assets under military control into the limelight.
