#BreakingNews DRDO to abandon Kaveri project.

@he-man

Let us wait and watch ; the very fact that we are paying 22 billion dollars
for Rafale and also that negotiations are going on for so long means that
something is " cooking "

If we cannot extract some high tech benefits from the Rafale deal
then our negotiators are of no use

BUT I do believe that
Kaveri /GTRE will indirectly benefit from the Rafale deal

.
I said this last year and people said i was a false flag chinese.
This engine was

1)Badly planned as a vce when we cannot even make a conventional one
2)Under funded
3)Had inferior materials so not durable and overweight.

But it did work and if we can carry forward the knowledge we gained and pumped billions we will have something good in a decade

Yea people saying that i am in a place called dera ismail khan considering I've spent nearly my entire life in Delhi only

22 billion is a media figure.

The cost will be around $12-13 billion for the planes with full upgrades like AESA,targeting pods among other things.

A certain small amount for METEOR BVR-AAM.

A certain small amount for ToT

The rest will be spent domestically for setting up assembly lines. Acquiring land, setting up factories, install machinery, paying employees, testing etc.

Money paid to France won't exceed $15 billion that too over 6-7 years.

True HAL is bigger enemy of IAF, IA Aviation, Naval Aviation than PAF can ever be.

No,thats not true.
But fair enough,,they need big time reforms otherwise they will be assembling stuff for next 50 years too

In terms of losing more personnel to defects resulting in crash than lost in combat to PAF.

Nope,,crashes are not much. Its within acceptable limits if u don't include the cheetahs/chetaks as those are ancient helos with no fault of HAL.

Problem is 0 innovation.

Sorry,,mig-21 has nothing to do with HAL,,its an equipment that should have been retired 10 years back.
As for dhruvs it has a very good record overall and helicopters are one field where HAL is doing quite well actually.

But HAL license produced the Mig-21 starting from F-13 to PF to FL to Type 77 to M to Type 88/MF to bis to U to UM to Bison.

The Bison which keeps crashing is not as old as people think. Last delivered to IAF in 2002.

10 odd Dhruvs have crashed so far. Both India and Ecuador figures. Not very good i think

Mig-21 still uses 1960's tech,not HAL'S FAULT.

What amount will be small for u?
How many missiles do we need ?

As much as the LCA , I would say we need Astra ASAP ..

Astra BVR-AAM is 60km-80km range.

METEOR is 125km+. Best active homing BVR. Superior to both AIM-120 AMRAAM and R-77M.

R-27ER has 130km max range is semi-active/passive homing

And we can't induct R-77M on Rafale.

Mirage 2000 is R-27 certified but not R-27ER as it probably wasn't allowed by Russia.

Rafale will have full western weapons outlay.

MICA METEOR etc.

I can't say exactly what level of stockpile we need but for 126 Rafales a 1000 METEOR would just be a start.

Again we will induct Rafale in batches make payment in batches same can/will be done for the METEOR.

Indians finally lay the dead horse to rest after flocking it for the longest time. Indians had been insisting they would build Kaveri. Looks like Indians aren't technical enough to get it built no matter how badly they smack their heads on the wall.
