Why did India need this membership anyway? Why she has to spoil everything? Aren't you happy with your sub-SAARC club?

I am not sure if SCO will ever become a potent force or not but there is higher chance of it playing greater economic and military role in South and Central Asia. SAARC is pretty much useless with plenty of potential and track record of countless waste of opportunities since its inception.

The likes of Russia and China will nourish Pakistan and India's bilateral ties with rest of the Central Asia and Far East, increase interdependency with the nations that really matters aside from western world and help in strengthening the foreign policy. It's likely to bring both Pakistan and India 1 step close to each other as they will not be able to dictate terms like we did in SAARC.

Good forum to discuss economic ties especially TAPI. Or even Russia-China-India pipeline. If Iran also joins it will be immensely helpful. I like the present set of pragmatic leaders that Pakistan and India have. Both are eyeing Central Asian energy and Chinese investment. China is spreading its net in Asia, and it is wise for everyone to come on board. Russia is increasing isolated and down economically. It will push for business opportunities in Asia.

If South-West Asian countries like Pakistan and Afghansitan can be in SAARC, then considering the proximity of Tibet and Yunnan, China too has the right to be a SAARC member.

India? EU? No problem! Just stand in line, behind Turkey, Armenia, Georgia, Iran, Central Asian Stans, Afg and Pakistan. Your turn will come soon.
