Breaking News: Russian forces ‘repel’ Ukraine advances in Donetsk, Kherson and Mykolaiv regions The short Ukraine momentum has come to conclusion

But China's StarLink will have more satellites and better quality. You can try to use potatoes to interfere with China's high resolution optical remote sensing satellite.
And? Starlink is about communications. What the U.S. military wants whether communication or remote sensing is their thing with NSA or NRO or whatever branch.

There is already a main thread on this war. No need to open a new one.

We are talking about shotgun style pellets at satellites. Not capturing them.
Have space weapons been deployed on a $500000 satellite? Do you believe what you say?

Those are the cheapest and simplest communication satellites. One rocket can launch dozens of small potatoes at the same time.

It seems like the Mobilization of the Russian forces is slowly being felt across the frontlines and this is early and they have probably only injected into the frontlines at this point only around 20% of the mobilized forces and the result shows immediately. I believe Russia will be on the offensive 10 days from now in a massive way across all the lines...

Russian forces ‘repel’ Ukraine advances

  • Russia’s defence ministry says its forces repelled efforts by Ukrainian troops to advance in the Donetsk, Kherson and Mykolaiv regions, inflicting what it described as significant losses against the enemy.
  • The ministry also said Russian forces destroyed three US-made M777 howitzers in Ukraine’s northern Kharkiv region.
Russia the one of the three biggest military powers in the world is taking pride in repelling advance of much smaller and less equipped with almost no Air Force. This is what it has come down to. And yes, there would be some repels but mostly it's lost cause and war for Russia. They better understand it now or they would be stuck and destroyed. And US will be loving nothing more.

No but small unmanned spacecraft is possible. Not to mention missiles.

If USA really launches spacecraft carrying space weapons, then China will certainly follow up. This will have serious consequences for the development of human civilization.

I hope that China and USA will compete in space responsibly.

I like the idea of countering these small and cheap satellites by dropping billions of tiny iron balls into orbit. I'm sure the US and China can do it.

Both US and China have talked about this called total access denial if one becomes dominant in space and there's no way to contest it, simply the other would create so much debris that it is not useful for all. But that's only after total direct war and one side establishes total dominance in space domain.

The quality of satellites in the US starlink is very poor, and the cost of each satellite is only 500k dollars. I really doubt the role of these space small potatoes in the Ukrainian war, maybe they can only provide some communication services for Ukrainian soldiers.

Of course, SpaceX is only a private enterprise with limited funds. It is a miracle that it can launch tens of thousands of satellites into space.

The satellites launched by China are better and more expensive, China starlink is high-resolution optical remote sensing satellites. Some satellites have demonstrated the technology of following F22.

It can be predicted that the performance of the Chinese starlink is much better than that of the space potato starlink.
i learnt somewhere china's starlinks can receive/send SMS from ground/space that US' ones cant. Is that a big deal?

They might be cheap satellites, but they have demonstrated their utility when it counts.

Doubt mobilization has any impact. It simplr because russia went to more solid lines.

Once the forces are augmented you may see similar fast gain of grounds as they fast as they lost ground

lol, he doesn't even know what Network Centric Warfare is and what is Information Warfare. Do you think he knows what Satellite Tracking and Comm module is for?

For Satellite tracking, there are 4 variable matrices for any ISTAR operator, they are

"Predictable"
"Unpredictable"
"Trackable"
"Untraceable"

A target is ASSUMED to be unpredictable if it is on the move, which mean unless you know where your target is going, and to which route they are taking to the target. You won't know which direction of travel of your target until he made the move, which make tracking such target in real time nearly impossible.

For example, can you guess what the F-22 would do from one action to the next one??

A very good exercise we always do is to put your mouse cursor to your target and predict where they are going to go. Which usually ends up your cursor losing the target, that's real time tracking.

A stationary ground target is predictable. Until the moment it start to move, because you know it's always going to be there until it moves. When it move, it will become either trackable or untraceable.

The Matrix of Trackable and Untraceable is basically different parameter of whether or not you can put your effort to "Put a Pin on it" If it is too fast, too violent, and too far for example, that target is untrackable.

On the other hand, the sole purpose for Satellite Communication is to make sure you have a point-to-point comm ready to go, it will not be interfered as long as you held both end at the same track.
