You do not understand. These generals are mostly old and veterans of the Iraq war and they are also religios people. So they volunteer to go and defend ''Shia interests''.

There is no Iranian army chain of command ordering these generals and militia men to go and fight in Syria. They are all volunteers. To give you an idea this is somewhat similar to Russian ''military activity'' in Ukraine (through militiamen and advisors).

There is a deference between leading from front or dying like a dumbazz . which apparently our western neighbour dnt know .

There is also a ''deference'' between a strong stable and safe country like Iran or a failed state terrorist ridden country at our Eastern borders.
