Brahmins Fought for Imam Hussain in the Battle of Karbala

One of the wives of Imam Hussain, the Persian princess Shahr Banu, was the sister of Chandra Lekha or Mehr Banu, the wife of an Indian king called Chandragupta. When it became clear that Yazid was adamant on wiping out the Imam, the Imam’s son Ali ibn Hussain rushed off a letter to Chandragupta asking him for help against Yazid.

This is completely untrue.

Bibi Sheherbano was the sister of Hazrat Sheheryar, the King of Iran. She was specifically dispatched by Imam Husain from Karbala to *prevent* Hazrat Sheheryar from sending an Army because he didn't want further bloodshed. Bibi met with her brother who was enroute to Karbala with his Army and stopped him. He protested, but she ultimately convinced him. He then asked her to return to Iran as a Princess. She refused. She is said to have lived out her last days in a cave on a hill near Tehran. Her "rauza" is in Iran and is one of the sites of pilgrimage for the faithful. She had nothing to do with Chandragupta.

I think we've discussed this topic enough, and it's swaying way off course from who fought at Karbala, to family ties of Imam Husain's kin. I think it is best to close this thread now.
