Ok, even if i buy your point...our logic still stands. In simple words, BSF is not that naive to recognize the fact that she is not harmful...they could have kept her in jail and later released her on a flag meeting or even demand ransom for that matter...but i do not understand why you have to go above your limits and kill her for no reason...
Many of the Indians portray the 'illegal migration' as the reason...well for one, you dont have to kill a 15 year old girl for that purpose because she aint stealing away your treasures...BSF could have simply followed regular norms and just detained her...but why kill....?
Cheers!!!
I am with BD on these... BSF should take extreme precaution before killing any unarmed person. after all it is a loss to humanity
They shouldn't have killed her. Indians stop justifying the incident, it was a gruesome event. She was just a kid and wasn't a threat by any means.
Some very valid comments. However i would like to paint the scenario and would request you to introspect a bit more on this. Before that some facts
- Illegal Immigration via land route is a very serious problem in Eastern border.
- If you go by accounts there are scores and scores of BD nationals living in India and becuase of corruption to the core it is almost impossible to identify them. Reason they all are carrying Ration Cards and all other identity cards out there...
- After lot of hardships whatever number is identified those people are detained. Normal procedures are followed to return them to BD. However most of the times for whatever reasons BD govt don't accept her nationals. Result these people just languish in jails for months and some for years...
Now lets revisit the scenario. As per the article this unfortunate girl and her father wanted to cross over from India to Bangladesh. Dad managed to cross over however girl is stuck....Unable to untangle her girl starts screaming...This alerts the BSF.
I am not sure how you read it but the way i look at it i can conclude that BSF had no clue about the trespassing till they get alerted by the screams. Now the girl is very close to Barbed wire. In other words about 100-150 m away from Bangladesh Border....Now may i humbly ask as a BSF officer what are you supposed to do??? Fire at her or run after her and risk loosing the illegal trespasser???
What do people mean when they say she was just a kid???? How do you accept a BSF personnel to know the age of the person??? It seems you guys are thinking that BSF people stopped by the gal, asked her age and then shot her...I am sorry but that is not how things work at border.....Had the gal been spotted well inside the border and still shot i could have understood but being so close to the border is a different ball game. Rules of engagement were followed here....Last but not the least this gal was trespassing from Indian side..she could easily have been Indian.....BSF did not look at her passport before killing her...so we should restrain from painting BSF vs BD scenario atleast in this case....If some of you still disagree then point me the flaw.....
In the end it is very sad incident. Any person killed like this is unfortunate but it adds to the tragedy if that person is a kid. Such incidents should force both BDR and BSF to increase their co-operation. Something arrangements should be made. Not sure how practical it is but something like a hot line can help....If BSF spots such trespassing then they can call in their counterparts from BDR to arrest instead of killing or vice versa...As per me the real culprit is the father of the gal. An international border should not be treated like some playground where kids can play hide and seek....
