At least two people were wounded tonight by a bomb in the northeast Indian state of Assam, police said.

The blast took place in Lakhimpur district, about 320 km east of Assam's main city Guwahati. The bomb was found and picked up by a scrap dealer, who was one of the wounded, a police official said.

Separatists have been fighting the government for decades in Assam and neighbouring regions. No group has claimed responsibility for the blast.

. . . . . . .
Hope India's insurgency problems get under control. Even though the group that exploded this bomb isn't the Maoists, they have joined hands & efforts against the Indian government. So this is a very dangerous situation, & India has failed to eliminate the insurgent threats in their country. Right now, with Telangana on the horizon, the Maoists might be able to get a permanent footprint there, & with the recent Maoist attack in Karnataka, the Maoists might get a bigger footprint, from North East to South India.

Assam is an often unreported warzone, much like Orissa Jharkand and other troubled regions in hindustan

the Assamese insurgency is almost as frequent in strength and ''show of force'' as are the Maoists.

Are you serious!? :woot: ULFA and Maoists are two poles apart. They hate each other to the core. Telangana is not Maoist demand... it is the people's wish for better management of the region's poorer district. Andhra Pradesh is a huge state and managing everything under one administration isn't easy.

Karnataka is one of the most developed states of the country. It is only second to Gujarat in infrastructure and one of the finest. What rubbish are you talking about? People there have seen far more benefits of a democratic, capitalist society. Why the hell would they want a crazy 1950's Maoist society? You seriously need psychiatric help.

the funny thing is -- many indians blame the poor Christians for supporting and propping up the Naxalites/Maoists

I never said the Maoists are separatists, or Telangana wants to separate from India.

There have been Maoists arrested in Andhra Pradesh recently, as well as in the past. When Bihar split & Jharkhand was formed, Maoist activities were increased in Jharkhand. When Chhattisgarh was carved out of Madhya Pradesh, Maoists gained a permanent footprint there too. You might see the same as a result of Telangana.

I am chatting with you from upper state of assam(i mean arunachal pradesh) and i heard about that incident in T.V and from friend but rarely heard about the troublemaker(because most wing of ULFA signed peace agreement) so how you know about that secret sitting there?
