Bollywood is killing our film industry, say Pakistan’s actors

I remember my parents telling me there was a time when Pakistani drama was nothing but the best (apparently even Indians used to watch it because it was 'decent').

But lollywood deteriorated to trash! I mean, I went to Pakistan a few years ago and I turned on the T.V. What did I see? Some overdone woman slapping another overdone woman- and the special effects! The same slap was repeated with the camera turned in every angle, changed to negative color, zoomed in and zoomed out, saturated, played backwards and what not- it had special sound effects such as echoes too!

Come on, we're better than that!

that is the stuff imported from 100% pure india.

disgracing lollywood doesnt meaning bollywood is any better, bollywood is anything other than creativity, stealing others work and making money is all its about..

That is because of the performance of your lollywood industry in last decades.

Yes. As some of us pointed out, the Pakistani film industry suffered a death blow under the pious General Zia . But we can recover and, if a Bollywood alliance helps sustain and nurture Lollywood talent, then so be it. If Pakistani actors, directors and singer/songwriters become household names in India, as the reverse is true in Pakistan, then it can only be good for both countries.

ofcourse I was trying to reinforce the point that it is not only product but adequate promotion and other P's are required...

Absolutely. We agree.

Yes, I know... but come on, we had our own style- why did we have to copy the gilaah-khor dramas of bollywood

Bro... that is nitpicking by yours truly (Indian trolls).

Most of us don't think that... you shouldn't generalize what we (170m other people) think because some one posts an article about Pakistani actors saying stuff.

selective amnesia is such wonderful thing.

Bollywood is one of the many Indian film industries. Tamil and Telugu film industries go toe to toe with Bollywood. Malayalam, Bengali, Kannada and Bhojpuri industries are profitable too.

If Pakistan had not looked down up on its own languages as unsophisticated, why not make Punjabi movies or Sindhi movies whats the deal with it.

Lollywood has to think out of the box and create its niche. Co-operation with Bollywood is boat load of BS.

I was referring to trolls, not all of India.

Indeed! Truly superior to Pakistan! :cheesy:

All the pakistanis that posted here just said that Pakistan movie industry is weak. We don't 'look down up on our own languages'. There were plenty of good non-urdu movies when the industry was thriving. Nothing to do with languages 'being looked down upon'. South Indian friends told me that North Indians look down upon them- but that has nothing to do with the Indian movie industry, does it?

We had, and now we're copying bollywood and this is why its failing.

Pretty insightful statement about your psyche. I have not commented on their quality over Pakistan, I was enumerating the number of other movie industries that are thriving in India

India cannot even dream of touching our Music and TV industry though. Ours is in a completely different league.

India has touched the very heights when Rahman won the oscar. Infact if you have listened to his classics like roja, you will understand the level India has reached...

but ofcourse you are in a very different level...:smitten:

Pakistan should be making movies with substance and not style. More like Iran. Most Indian movies are all style and little substance. Instead of competing with Indian movies, they can make movies with lower budget but greater artistic value . Once their movie is being recognized ,they can increase the budget.

Why of course, especially when he lifts some parts from other scores for his own music.

That is a different level indeed. Here have a listen to the background shimmer in his copy from the original Vangelis score. I am sure if you knew music, real music that is, you will be able to find where some other parts are being lifted from.

wow! congratulations... please inform the oscar committee that they have picked the wrong person!

btw, The song is no where related to the song except for the shimmer & bass, which is also different.. if you know real music... the shimmer has also been used in other songs before and after the chariots of fire..

Also, how many songs have the same rock E guitar strung....all linkin park and other rocks have similar starts and background, but the main construct is different..

I would recommend you to listen to Duet & vishwavidata...

Well he won for another film, I guess you are not familiar with how the oscars work but an individual wins based on the selected work and other work does not have any bearing on his win.

The shimmer is a direct copy from the Chariots of Fire theme, it was not used in this sequence before Vangelis used it and thus made it famous. It is as they say 'inspired' in parts by A.R Rahman.

He won for "original score". His Music. He beat people like James Newton Howard..

When you start to do a new thing, all you do is repeat what you learnt from your teachers or use what you have learnt..

that is exactly what happened, that is rahman's first film, he was inspired by Vangelis. but it is not complete ripoff... also listen to his other music, slowly over the years he has pulled out of it and has created his own world, his own style... please he is way beyond anybodys league....

appreciate good work... he revolutionized indian music. ofcourse it was earlier filled with anu malik copied stuff earlier until rahman broke in to the scene and changed it...

btw, anu malik also copies rahman and says he was inspired by them...
