Bollywood on many occasions has used word "Allah" in songs in a way some Muslims might find offensive. What's your take?

E.g. Ye Ladka Hai Allah - Kabhi Kush Kabhi Gam
Ishq Subhan Allah - Mere **** Pehle Aap
allaa tero naam eeshwar tero naam - HUM DONO
Ishwar Allah Tere Naam - NAYA RAASTA

Aaja Aaja Mein Hun Pyar Tera,
Allah Allah Inkaar Tera..
Ooo oo Aaja Aah Aah Aaja... - TEESRI MANZI

Allah Rasool Ka Farmaan Ishq Hai
Yaane Hafeez Ishq Hai, Quraan Ishq Hai
Gautam Kaa Aur Maseeh Ka Armaan Ishq Hai
Ye Kaaynaat Jism Hai Aur Jaan Ishq Hai
Ishq Sarmad, Ishq Hi Mansoor Hai
Ishq Moosa, Ishq Koh-E-Noor Hai
Khaaq Ko But, Aur But Ko Devta Karta Hai Ishq
Intaha Ye Hai Ke Bande Ko Khuda Karta Hai Ishq

List is endless. Its like "Allah" has become a filler word for rhyming.

Many hindus also use allah in day to day life...
Allah =bhagwan...and let's leave it to that...

.
Allah simply means 'god' in Arabic. Khuda, Bhagwan, Rab, are just different words to refer to the same entity. We use a lot of urdu in our songs and movies, so this doesn't necessarily have anything to do with Islam.

.
expressions like "haye allah"
"allah hi malik hai"
"subhan allah"
are in everyday usage...nothing wrong with it...

. .
No it doesn't

What? Allah doesn't mean the supreme, all powerful, all knowing, omnipresent being, aka god?

Islam also says that 'Allah' is god's only true name, but I guess it depends on the context, here it simply refers to god.

.
Though Allah as a word is being used extensively in bollywood but that is not to offend a community. Its sole intention is to increase the beauty of expression by relating things to god.

though I dont know what the word Bhagwan really stands for in the Hindu religion but as far as I know Aeshwar, the God of all gods as our Hindu Brothers might put it is the accurate word. So,

I agree, Allah is another word for Aeshwar / Yahweh / God.

and, that is that :)

PS: if any song writer uses it wrongfully, well, God is his God as well, unless he's an atheist :azn:

No it doesn't

This might come for you as shocker But,

1) Allah is not a word of the Arabic language

2) Allah is God not god -- fhassan said No in response to the small g god

=============================

The word Allah is a word of an unknown language, that predates the advent of modern Islam in Arabia. As we Muslims know, Islam didnt start with Muhammad PBUH, in a way it ended (the exact word being perfected) with him. Therefore, we find the use of this word Allah, much much before Modern Islam, infact, this word Allah is present in the ancient Hindu scriptures as well, just google it and you'll know. Also, Allah is not for your Muslims alone, its just a word for the One True God of all gods, as they say, the King of all Kings.

But does Islam not believe that there is only ONE God? Then how does it simultaneously reconcile itself to saying God of "all Gods" ?

Does Islam thereby imply supremacy of one God over others or does it imply that there is only one God and the others are not, or are in a way "lesser" in some shape or form?

Cheers, Doc

Actually, Allah or Al Lah was the Moon God of pre-Islamic Arabia. He married the sun goddess and they had three daughters, Al Lat, Al Uzza and Al Manat.

Initially, Muhammad had commanded his followers in the Quran to worship the three daughters Al Lat, Al Uzza and Al Manat. Later he recanted that commandment, and instead asked people to worship Allah alone. This is known as the Satanic Verses incident.

Lets get back to the topic guys.

I believe it should be allowed till it is not offensive. one should not malign or sell hatred towards any religion for the sake of entertainment. Praising Allah and reciting Allah as a part I personally think should be allowed. But though since Music is not allowed in Islam would better wait for comments from senior members.

I'd rather not tread this path. This will head towards even further confusion wherein some would say this means Allah had a gender. This will be offensive to lot of fellow members and additionally we must never forget that this is a defence forum, hardly a place for hardcore theological debate. I think the line of reasoning should be avoided.
Well, It's wuite apperent that no-one is offended by use of word Allah, and everyone continues to live happily....
