"We signed deals with Saudi Arabia wiorth $ 50 billion," a Boeing official told Arqam Magazine.
The kingdom began developing military industries
He said in remarks to "Al-Arqam" that the military and commercial deals will support the plan of the Kingdom to localise spending on military equipment and create jobs in aviation in both Saudi Arabia and the United States.
The agreements included the possible sale of Chinook helicopters and related support services, guided weapons systems and P-8 maritime reconnaissance aircraft, and an agreement to negotiate the sale of 16 wide-bodied aircraft to Saudi Arabia Gulf.
He noted that Boeing recently signed a joint agreement with Saudi Engineering and Aviation Company and Salam Aviation Industry to establish the Saudi Arabian Aircraft Support Company in the Kingdom.
The joint venture will have locations in Riyadh and Jeddah, and will provide comprehensive repair and maintenance services for helicopters in Saudi Arabia. It will also support commercial and defense aircraft platforms, including Apache AH-64, Chinook H-47 and AH-6i.
Miller stressed that Saudi Arabia has already begun to develop less complex industries such as spare parts, armored vehicles and basic munitions as part of Vision 2030, indicating that the Kingdom will be able to expand it to include more complex and higher value industries.
