Incorrect.

Just recently there was another corruption scandal in SK relating to election grafting.
No, that incident took place at the 2008 Grand National Party convention where they were electing its directors and he was trying to pay-off other party members $2500 each to support his bid for the party director's seat. Unfortunately, the one who received the money envelop immediately turned it over to the justice department prosecutors. It was a party convention election electing party officers and not a general election, but the man's career was ruined because of that $2500 envelop.

One thing about Korean politicians is that they are wary of receiving any money for the fear that could instantly end his/her career, hence that parliamentary member turned his fellow party official in. Because the opposition and the press really dig dirt on candidates when they run for public office or be nominated as ministers.

@Korean

Yi Seungman was accused of embezzle $20m and was exiled.
That's news to us. Is that what they teach in China, when no one's accusing Lee Seungman of graft in Korea?

Lee Myung Bak has 10 relatives on corruption, he was corrupted before.
But not after taking public office. He is clean during his terms as mayor and president. It is his shady deals as a private businessman and his lobbying effort that's controversial.

My take is of all presidents of South Korea only Park Jong Hee was not involved with corruption because he was assassinated.
He was in office for 18 years and ruled with an iron fist. Yet he didn't enrich himself, and this is the reason why his daughter is so popular even with her rightwing ideology today, because of that memory that Park Jeong Hee became the dictator to save the country, not to enrich himself and took no personal gains.

Roh Moo Hyun commited suicide to take heat off from his wife.
Yes, but he didn't take the money himself.

This case was exposed in the press in Feb 2012 wasn't it?

Also relating to political scandals, the "Korean Gate" surely has caused a seismic shock in S Korea:

In South Korea Scandal, Echoes of Watergate

No, it was exposed in 2008, but there was nothing to charge him on because the position he sought wasn't a public office.

When he because the speak of parliament in 2012, the oppositions brought this case back and accused him of being an immoral person to lead the parliament, so he resigned under the pressure.

Also relating to political scandals, the "Korean Gate" surely has caused a seismic shock in S Korea:
This is not a corruption case.

Rhee was accused by Kim Yong Kap, Deputy Minister of Finance, of embezzling more than $20 million in government funds.Wikipedia

One of the term I used was 'involved'.
We will give Park Jong Hee the benefit of doubts because we should not accuse a dead man of anything and besides he was my all time favorite Korean leader.

I think 100 is just too much. You can't keep them all satisfied. I say 20 is enough for a man with a high libido!

Lmao, and you speak from experience? I highly doubt it.

The more Chinese nationalist keyboard warriors try to dig dirt into Korean politics, the faster they realize that the "check & balance" works in Korean politics, and that it's hard to get away with corruption due to watchful eyes of opposition parties and the press.

To the contrary whenever a corruption case erupts in China, the minimum amount involved is $100 million. Why is this? Because the communist party is unchecked and the absolute power corrupts absolutely, so that you have people like Bo and Gu with running away with $125 million, order assassination of Britons and blow up a jet. And there are thousands of officials like Bo who has run away with $500 billion in bribes and embezzlement.

And not proven. The word embezzlement doesn't associate with Lee Seungman, and he was kicked out for seeking his 3rd term, not because of embezzlement allegations.

WHY ARE CHINESE MEMBERS POSTING LINKS ABOUT KOREA ?? HOW INSECURE !!
They try to divert the world's attention away from China's epic corruption problems by bringing stories about Korean politicians paying(not receiving) $2500 to win votes for a private office, and a clean former president who committed suicide to protect his wife, not because he did anything wrong.

. . .
So we have $2500, $300K vs $160 million plus assassinations.

- Jun Do Hwan : Corrupt <= Took $300 million, Court took back $200 million to date
- Noh Tae Woo : Corrupt <= Took $300 million, Court took back $250 million to date

The above is from your post on the first page. Thank You.

SK is just 1/20 of China in terms of population
"assassination" is political scandal so is "Korean Gate"

Indeed! I have nightmares after "China killer" - apu's gun's now ignited!

And those days are long gone in Korea, so that even a corrupt person would attempt to do anything stupid while in office. This is the power of full democracy, check and balance at work.

On the other hand, those days are China's today and tomorrow.

That's your personal opinions and I beg to differ.
