blast in karachi

A single party is not responsible for this. Read Agno post #24.

It is much easier for people to blame a single party (establishment, agencies, MQM, Afghans, Taliban etc.) and advocate simplistic solutions like 'military operations', than to understand the complexity of the problem and that fixing the problem requires a comprehensive and long term solution with reforms that are anathema to the current political actors, on all sides. None of them wants an independent law enforcement or civilian intelligence at the federal or provincial level. They are all bloody corrupt and they all stand to lose if that happens.

.
What coalition government?
The MQM is using its thugs and the PPP is using its own 'aman committee thugs'.

When the 'coalition partners' are fighting a proxy war through militant thugs, what do expect will happen?

And the above does not even include the Taliban/religious extremists and other political factions involved in violence.

I agree. My post was meant for Karachite who is blaming taliban only.

I understand, I was just venting.

On another note, yet another result of the Zardari led PPP and his extremist advisers. From day 1 the likes of Zulfiqar Mirza and others have been sowing ethnic divisions and hatred to maintain their control on power and use the ethnicity card to ward off any attempts to topple their corrupt and inept government.

The MQM alone is not responsible here - the extremists in the PPP have created the dynamics that led to this situation.

I visited Karachi and Sindh last year and i know how they work.
First they form unit in specific area mqm unit number ----.
No other political party can enter into this unit all the walls, khambay, and houses decorated with mqm colors and almost all the houses and shopkeepers have to pay bhata 300/600 per month they are in majority so they can easily target migrated Punjabi, Afghans, Pathans.

.
what exactly is the taliban ive heard there are 25 taliban factions operating in pakistan...i mean yar cant blame the army man they do try there best to keep peace in karachi plus i agree that CIA has operatives trying to destablise pakistan infiltartions in baluchistan we did not have this stuff going on before 9/11 after which we have had scores of bomb blasts...the real target was pakistan it was never a war on terror..the target was to break and the target is to break pakistan the only ideological threat to the zionists lobby.

.
Hmm compare bomb blasts in Karachi to Punjab and KP. I don't see a Karachi taliban unlike Punjabi Taliban. Karachi was very peaceful until Afghan refugees came into Karachi in millions bringing their gun culture and drugs with them plus the great "government and army" started their operation against innocent karachiites in the late 80s and 90s. Karachi is a city of 20 million, amazing how much the government has neglected it.

Yes maybe there is no such thing as a Karachi Taliban but bomb blasts have been happening in Karachi long before it started happening in Punjab and Khyber Pakhtunkhwa.

Do you want me to dig up old articles from the 1980's and 1990's.

You cant blame all your problems on Taliban. The problem in Karachi is more political. It has been this way for a long, long time now.

. .
I've given up hope now.

My beautiful city has been consumed by these fckin taliban scums that has come from different areas. I'm just waiting for the day when I will be killed in these blasts. Religion of peace lmaooooooooo.

Are you telling me that MQM is a religious party?

.
in all honesty, i suspect that the blast was meant to settle a score; perhaps somebody never paid up. Perhaps it was gang-related, who knows.

There is a reason why gambling is considered an ill in society and frowned upon in our culture. Of course I'm no judge; but just a personal observation. For all we know, they couldve been involved in other things like drugs and other destructive behaviour

still doesnt make this incident any bit more okay; Karachi is a very sophisticated and bustling city. You have the happy, cheerful and developed side of Karachi; then there is a dark side in certain areas where mafia; criminal behaviour; extortion rackets and crap like this goes down.

Agno did a good job describing why the political system in this city and other cities in Pakistan are rotten to the core. A total system overhaul is needed and well deserved.

RIP the innocent victims. When will this end?

It will end as soon as Pakistan realize that the monster they have created is of no use and act to clean the scums without distinguishing them as Good or Bad.. From what is evident as of now, ignoring humangous internal extremism, the blames are being passed to US and even to India where its their own people blasting innocents off on the streets.

Anyways, the innocent souls RIP and may god give strength to the families of the people who lost their lives.

These Underworld Gangs cannot be easily finished off easily. They are like multi headed serpents, if you cut off one head another head sprouts up!! These gangs grow when the police, local leaders are hand in glove with them. In old Cities like Karachi and Bombay, these goons have have penetrated so deeply, that it is an impossible task to weed them out. People find it easier to turn their head away than fight them. The people have allowed these gangs to proliferate into the system that it becomes impossible to change the system without consequences, which nobody wants to suffer.

IMO, atleast the new cities and satellite towns should not allow them to get a head start .

Rummy club bombing planner arrested

KARACHI - Crime Investigation Department (CID) claimed to have arrested six persons allegedly involved in Rummy Club bombing incident and target killings in Karachi.
The arrests were made in two separate raids. One of the six accused was arrested over rummy club bombing while five others were arrested over their involvement in target killings and other criminal activities. Their arrests were disclosed on Monday during a Press conference by Sindh Inspector General of Police Fayyaz Leghari at Central Police Office. IGP Fayyaz Leghari revealed that a newly formed terror-outfit known as ‘Al-Mukhtar group’was involved in the attack at the rummy club known as ‘The Birch Club’ located in the Ghas Mandi area that claimed 22 lives and injured over 50 others. He said that the group demanded Rs two million from the club owner and warned of attack. The administration of club declined to fulfil the demand. IGP said that CID team has arrested one accused, namely Mustafa Rehman Orakzai alias Yaqoob Commando, son of Syed Rehman Orakzai after a brief encounter in Super Highway within the jurisdiction of Sohrab Goth police station.
‘We have also recovered 20kg of explosives, one BM rocket, two hand grenades and two TT pistols’, Leghari stated.
‘Omer Baloch is the group leader who plotted the terror activity accompanied by Mustafa, Dawood and Abid’, he said.
He further stated that the group has links with the terror outfits in Wana and Waziristan and also got training from there.
He said that Omer Baloch planned for a bomb attack at the rummy club with his companions after proper monitoring of the security situation in the club.

Later, they made a bomb weighing two-and-a-half kg explosive on an iron box and connected detonator with the mobile phone.
He said that culprits reached club on April 21 and left the box while playing the game.
They planted bomb under the table and left the club, which exploded by making a phone call after they reached at the Ranchore Lane Chowk.
IGP Leghari further said that Sindh Chief Minister Syed Qaim Ali Shah also announced Rs 1 million for the CID team.
Meanwhile, CID police has arrested five target killers involved in more than 100 cases of target killings across the City.
The arrested culprits were also involved in various heinous cases of crime including robberies and kidnappings for ransom.
IGP said group leader Liaquat Bangash alias Liaquat tension and his companions Faizan, Muhammad Azeem Khan, Arshad Khan and Liaquat Yousufzai were arrested from Pehlwan Goth area, Gulistan-e-Jauhar alongwith three hand grenades, four Kalashnikovs and one repeater.
Fayyaz Leghari, however, claimed that the group has been involved over 100 cases of target killings.
He explained that the areas included Pehlwan Goth, Gulistan-e-Jauhar, Sharah-e-Faisal, Airport were badly affected because of the said gang.
He said that the police was also looking for the arrests of over 200 members of this group.
However, IGP denied the links of the arrested persons with the Awami National Party while the accused Bangash was allegedly known as senior leader of ANP and was involved in the killing of his rival gang members of Mudasir Chief detained in Central Prison Karachi.

The first and foremost, Karachi needs to be de-weaponized. That will solve a lot of problems. Secondly, the ruling parties in Karachi (MQM, ANP, PPP) need to maintain amicable relations with one another. Thirdly, I believe Karachi is just too big a city to govern for one party, it needs to be split up for better governance into various administrative areas. Fourthly, there must be upliftment programs in the poor parts of Karachi like Lyari, Malir and others. Fifth measure that needs to be taken is to send back all the Afghan refugees home, & for the ANP to stop recruiting the Taliban into the city.

Karachi is a beautiful city, its gone a long way from the 80's & the early 90's when it was in a terrible state. Many areas have developed tremendously, the roads & the general infrastructure in the city have improved hundred-fold, & now there are very few areas that are poor that need upliftment. These areas need to be taken care of. I'm very optimistic about the future of Karachi considering how much I've seen the city progress. It just needs to be administered better, & this can be done by splitting it up into different administrative areas.
