Blasphemy Law Possible Modifications!

Some also say the prophet had a Jewish neighbour who threw garbage at the prophet, and this person became ill one day, and the prophet visited her. This story is false... it was spread by the word of mouth and is not in any Islamci Text. Furthermore, different versions of it have been floating around and no scholars of the past have mentioned it in their Fiqh books

The prophet reportedly said:

I will expel the Jews and Christians from the Arabian Peninsula and will not leave any but Muslim.
[Sahih Muslim 19:4366]

When there was whats the word for it "qehat saali", everyone was starving to death, he modified the law about 'stealing' just a little. Made it a bit softer for time being.

You just nailed it, Bro you rule !

I had expected you to think - to have some sense of right and wrong -- in a way it's not your fault that you do not know right from wrong - you have basically had to give up thinking in terms of right and wrong and good and bad, after all that's what the hadith says -- and of course hadith (Abu boo boo who overheard xyz narrating to abc...) are part of your Divine law rubbish -- I really feel so bad for you, that you are caught up in this and all you wanted to do was to please others and do what they said was right -- please take some time and think about things, don't let these radicals make you a plaything

I can think about "laws" all I want. I cant change them. I cant do whatever I want with them. I can just do nothing. In the end, I have to accept them as they are. And Please dont make fun of Ahadith. PLEASE! Enough is enough yaar. You are constantly making fun of Ahadith. Dammit. If you dont believe in them, then dont. But shut your.. You are right about some ahadith to be weak. But not all of them are. So you cant do that. Please. I called you a non muslim because of this and if I am wrong, I am sorry. But you gotta check your faith. Ahadith are the second greatest source of knowledge about Islam.
And thanks for your concern. I'm fine.

THINK! using the brain that Allah gave you!

Some things are as they are. No matter what you think, you cant change them. You have to accept them.

Do most Pakistanis support the laws?

A large majority of Pakistani people support the idea that blasphemers should be punished, but there is little understanding of what the religious scripture says as opposed to how the modern-day law is codified. The response to recent events suggests that they largely believe the law, as codified by the military regime of General Zia-ul Haq back in the 1980s, is in fact straight out of the Koran and therefore is not man-made. The organised religious groups are promoting this view and have been able to mobilise mass support in their favour. Their highest point came when the assassin of Governor Salman Taseer was hailed as a hero by a large section of people across the country.

You could be tried under Blasphemy Law for attributing false things wrongly to the Prophet (PBUH) quoting from unauthentic BS internet sources.

Period.

There is NO question of "cant" changing something which is NOT at all ordered in Quran.

something which is not ordered by Allah and His Prophet (PBUH) how can you even impose it in the first place and then claim you cant change your self-styled imposition.

Narrated Abdullah Ibn Abbas: A blind man had a slave-mother who used to abuse the Prophet (peace be upon him) and disparage him. He forbade her but she did not stop. He rebuked her but she did not give up her habit. One night she began to slander the Prophet (peace be upon him) and abuse him. So he took a dagger, placed it on her belly, pressed it, and killed her. A child who came between her legs was smeared with the blood that was there. When the morning came, the Prophet (peace be upon him) was informed about it.

He assembled the people and said: I adjure by Allah the man who has done this action and I adjure him by my right to him that he should stand up. Jumping over the necks of the people and trembling the man stood up.

He sat before the Prophet (peace be upon him) and said: Apostle of Allah! I am her master; she used to abuse you and disparage you. I forbade her, but she did not stop, and I rebuked her, but she did not abandon her habit. I have two sons like pearls from her, and she was my companion. Last night she began to abuse and disparage you. So I took a dagger, put it on her belly and pressed it till I killed her. Thereupon the Prophet (peace be upon him) said: Oh be witness, no retaliation is payable for her blood.[Sunnan Abu Dawud 38:4348, Sunnan Abu Dawud 38:4361]

Nice advert for Islam, and then we argue about our religion being one of peace.

As you read this, remember to breathe -- hadith are said to be the collection of stuff people have heard attributed to the prophet of Islam - I would like to point out I am not making fun of these, it's rather that these are funny -- it seems that as soon as some Islamican come up with a problem with reality, the number of Hadith increases - and how many do we have by now? a couple of hundred thousand?? Does that even make sense to you?? See, I think you are not being fair to those who are amused by this hadith business, these funny by themselves -- WHY?

Because instead of using reason and developing awareness, discussion and temporary consensus (the true method of Islam) -- by the way temporary consensus because our knowledge is evolving, it is the nature of knowledge that it increases and abates - historical experience, middle AKA dark ages -- that is why the body of laws developed by Islamic Scholars, when such waqs actually done, reflects change - the change is a representation of their understanding, their knowledge changing ---so instead of this method, what islamicans do is they come up with the idea of hadith - -so what does this do??
1. It alienates Muslims from their confession -- Think about it - Now you no longer have to think or debate or discuss or research or be aware of the reality of peoples experience -- so Muslims do not participate in the creation of their experience of their religion, they merely recieve from on high or low or absurdity.

2. As it alienates Muslims from Islam, Mercy itself is diminished in the universe -- Do you understand this?? Do you follow the relationship between submission to the will of God, the Good and Mercy???

Don't suffer, Islam is liberation, not suffering - if you find that you suffer and your posts suggest that you do, get yourself to a position where you can at least consider things where your learning can increase - please do not allow yourself to suffer

This is just going in circles. What I think (with my tiny intellect) is that we cannot choose some laws of our religion to follow which we think are good and doesn't make us look bad in the society (yeah as absurd as it sounds, I believe it to be true), and discard other laws which may be strict.

Edit: Do any of you guys know about the variation of this law in the UAE and how well or not it is imposed?

You should check this Hadith in the Hadith book before insulting me here. This is a sahih Hadith.
