Blasphemy Law Possible Modifications!

The forum rules are pretty clear. At no point have we allowed members to debate who can or cannot participate in a particular discussion. If you have any questions about restricting participation, please PM Admins/mods with proper reasons for your request, and we will look into it. In fact, any change in the forum that you wish to see needs to be addressed through contact with the Admins/Mods through PM/email first, especially if it concerns other members.

Do not start threads or make posts on threads about restricting participation by members from a particular community. We will consider this trolling and issue infractions/bans.

Thank you.

Back to the blasphemy law now.

Why cant some people think rationally when it comes to religion. Why dont they debate the issue without twisting or misinterpretating sources? Why do they have such bloodlust?

At least nobody will die due to my (mis)interpretation. Every life is precious.

I will keep that in mind.

What about the religion? Dont you think we will be killing it with our misinterpretations?

My dear Sir: Allah and Islam are for all time and for all mankind and for all of the universe. Do you really think any harm will come to any of them if a few people interpret things any differently than you might?

Islam does not need us, we need Islam!

No. The suggestion was for all of us to misinterpret. Only then, according to this person, would the real peace come to the whole of the nation.

Ahmad

I really don't think we can do that, especially in Pakistan -- We actually have to go down the road we are on, we cannot avoid the violence and I think that because we cannot ignore it, that we must embrace it - the radicals want to use islam as a political utility for their totalitarian project and those who disagree with them, realize that the choices before them are, leave or die - perhaps, well..let me be clear, this political violence will end only when we take it to those who brought it us.

I know, yes, -- it's very harsh, yes, it is - but if you want this to end and trust me, to safe guard other Muslims and non-Muslims, we have to confront and kill it in Pakistan -- Pakistan is the most important Muslim country in the world, it really is, that is why it is the target of the radical Islamicans.

See, either way, whether we confront it or not - Islam, our understanding of Islam will not be the same and that will mean acts of "creation" - we will have no choice -- or we can always submit and fore go our self respect

We are back to square one.

In what sense? Tolerance, peace and respect for peoples of all faiths and races is supposed to be a central aspect of Islam's message, yet when one looks around the Muslim world today, we do the exact opposite.

The Mullah's are correct when they rant about 'Muslims being subjugated and backward because they have strayed away from Islam', but the thing is that they themselves are responsible for that 'backwardness and subjugation' by promoting intolerance and hatred, and stifling the creativity and free thinking that has allowed the US and other Western nations to achieve their current dizzying heights in science, technology and the arts.

And the solution the Mullah's are promoting is yet more 'backwardness, intolerance and hate'.

Not happy with the existing levels of medieval thinking in Muslim societies, they want Women to be segregated from Men in the workplace, schools and even in the markets. They want yet more restrictions on free thinking and speech, and yet more restrictions on the arts and culture. The Mullah's will not be satisfied until Muslims reach the levels of slightly evolved baboons.

The last part, its not what they want. They are not the ones wanting women to go in veil to wherever they go. And by no means are they the founder of the religion. Go check whatever the religion says. If it tells you nothing about the blasphemy law, as that is the issue in hand, there is no reason to keep the law to satisfy any Mullah. But, as I once posted somewhere in these threads, you come across a hadith regarding this issue, then you have to accept and not start ranting about how this could be and how the religion be contradicting with its own words. If you dont understand something, it doesnt mean its imperfect.

people who insults the religion, specially Prophet Muhammed SAW. This law is definitely according to the laws of Shar'ia. Its not a man made law.

Any proof?......maybe a sura from the koran or some hadith that backs up your point.
Can you shed some light on the story of al Jabalah ibn al-Ayham a Bedouin chief who after striking a person from a lower class tribe was punished when the victim was allowed to do the same thing back......if i recall did Jabalah ibn al-Ayham not leave islam after that.......what was his punishment?

Narrated Abdullah Ibn Abbas: A blind man had a slave-mother who used to abuse the Prophet (peace be upon him) and disparage him. He forbade her but she did not stop. He rebuked her but she did not give up her habit. One night she began to slander the Prophet (peace be upon him) and abuse him. So he took a dagger, placed it on her belly, pressed it, and killed her. A child who came between her legs was smeared with the blood that was there. When the morning came, the Prophet (peace be upon him) was informed about it.

He assembled the people and said: I adjure by Allah the man who has done this action and I adjure him by my right to him that he should stand up. Jumping over the necks of the people and trembling the man stood up.

He sat before the Prophet (peace be upon him) and said: Apostle of Allah! I am her master; she used to abuse you and disparage you. I forbade her, but she did not stop, and I rebuked her, but she did not abandon her habit. I have two sons like pearls from her, and she was my companion. Last night she began to abuse and disparage you. So I took a dagger, put it on her belly and pressed it till I killed her. Thereupon the Prophet (peace be upon him) said: Oh be witness, no retaliation is payable for her blood.[Sunnan Abu Dawud 38:4348, Sunnan Abu Dawud 38:4361]

Are you saying that narrative is sufficient to justify killing a pregnant woman (or your spouse in the privacy of a bedroom) and go scotfree based on hearsay evidence with no further due process necessary? That is just plain stupid, crazy and dangerous.

And there you have it ladies and gentlemen, the beloved prophet presented as an unfair hateful misogynist -- hadith for all, come get your hadith - enjoy your Hadith

Do you see, Do you understand, why in the end, you will have a "creation" project to deal with??

I have no other source of the hadiths. What do you expect me to do? Its not my creation.
