KASUR: The Ganda Singh police arrested a man and registered a blasphemy case against him for allegedly burning a Bible and other religious books in a Church at Sanda Phattak village.

Complainant John Masih stated in the FIR that his wife, Sadiqan Bibi, saw a man torching copies of the Bible and other religious books in the church.

He said Sadiqan locked the church door from outside and informed him (John) and others about the incident. Later, Pastor Shakeel Nasir, Ishaq Masih, Arshad Masih and some other villagers came to the church. They informed the police and later handed the accused over to them.

The accused was identified as Azhar of Sialkot district. Police said the accused seemed to be a deranged person. Meanwhile, a delegation of around 20 Christians from Kasur and other districts met DPO Ali Nasir Rizvi.

The DPO said the delegation expressed its satisfaction over the timely action taken by the police.

The DPO said the situation was peaceful and under control.

A step forward... It is very unlikely ( although I am hopeful that he will ) get punishment but this action will set a forward precedent where minorities will also be able to use the blasphemy law against psychotic mullahs as well as against such people who do not represent the true Islam.. I call such Muslims ' nam ka Muslim' ( Muslim in name only) and such people damage our religion more than any foreign intervention...

.
Unlikely

Read the escape clause inserted by Police which they will insert in the case.
Well it isnt normal to go to a Church and burn their books soo it is natural anyone would jump to saying PAGAL hai kiya?

True ....stupid people exist everywhere ...less to do with religion....but yea as long as police take action and either send the person to pagal khanna (which I believe in Pakistan is the same as jail coz they dont treat you good!) or to jail.....

.
then why did you even try to compare our country with yours, unless you like insulting Pakistan or you don't know the meaning of insult.

don't compare us with your country

one can compare himself with neighbors.:(

and we are better :dance3:

The only way this law can be saved is if it is used fairly to protect the sentiments of all religious communities. Otherwise it loses its relevance.

The third point is blashpemous to me and has hurt me feelings.
What realistic chance do I have of filing an FIR under Blashphemy laws against everyone who has signed it?

(If like people are saying, this law is applicable on everyone?)
