Indian media NDTV says the meeting between the two opposition leaders is very significant ahead of the 2024 Lok Sabha elections.
After a 45-minute meeting with India's opposition leader, Congress President Sonia Gandhi, West Bengal Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee said, "The meeting with Sonia Gandhi was very positive. We hope something positive will come out of it in the near future."
The West Bengal chief minister made the remarks at 10 Janpath in New Delhi on Wednesday (July 26). Congress leader Rahul Gandhi was also present at the meeting. This information was reported by the Indian media India Today.
After the meeting, Mamata told reporters, "I am not an astrologer. So I do not know who will be the face of the opposition alliance, who will lead it. I want the opposition to be united. The joint opposition candidate should fight against the BJP candidate."
Mamata said she was not willing to be the prime minister. He wants the opposition to be an alliance. "I am not a leader, I am a cadre. I am a street fighter. But everyone must unite. I cannot do anything alone.
Assembly elections are ahead in Uttar Pradesh, Uttarakhand and Punjab. Let all the opposition fight there together," he said.
According to NDTV, the Trinamool chief met the Congress president in Delhi. The meeting of the two opposition leaders is very significant ahead of the 2024 Lok Sabha elections.
The West Bengal Chief Minister has been in Delhi for the last five days. During this time he also met senior Congress leaders like Kamal Nath and Anand Sharma.
