Now Uttar Pradesh and Punjab elections, and the surgical strikes have given boost to BJP poll prospects. Now opposition wants its share of pie. I am really unhappy with the kind of attitude the opposition is taking just for polls forgetting that India is facing serious external threats.

That's a good post if I see from patriotism view point, and I would have definitely felt the same. However, the fact is they have shrouded the strikes under so much mystery that deep down even the hardliner patriots are beginning to challenge its veracity now.

Even if they share the evidences now , unless they are absolutely undeniable, the world will continue to see it with the hint of suspicion.

I just cannot understand - how could the sharing/airing of evidence be more irresponsible (or aggressive if that suits some) than the strikes themselves?

Pakistan is in denial about the strikes. If India were to produce the evidence, PA may be forced to act, leading to a war. There will be elements of doubt in all such military actions. Even today there are people who believe Osama still lives and US conducted a false flag in Abbottabad.

Anyway, I personally feel surgical strikes were not a good strategy. India should have continued with the strategy of isolation.

Who genius construed that 'conducting the strikes' would not mean risking the war ; going public about these won't mean risking the war, but somehow just sharing the evidence to clarify your own position afterwards would mean risking the war? Beats me every time I try to make myself accept it.

The strikes, if at all any, could have gone very wrong and could have lead to an all out war in itself the very same night. If that didn't then they shouldn't harbor concerns of Pakistan's backlash to the extent of war. And by the way, the backlash won't come from general public from whom the evidences are being hidden. Those in the know of things and those who can make the war on India would certainly already know the facts. So no point hiding.

And I agree very much with the last line about it not being a good strategy, however, in my view the 'claiming of strikes' was a continuation of strategy of isolation without taking the pains of conducting actual strikes.

If congress were to be believed this was not first time surgical strikes happened. 26/11 was the first time these strikes took place and in 2013 major surgical strikes happened inside Pakistan Occupied Kashmir, but this was the first time that GoI owned up the surgical strikes.
