Biryani vs Pulao: An exciting social media debate

The answer will depend on where you are from. For example, I'm from Karachi and most people from there will agree that nothing even comes close to chicken biryani WITH aloo, however, people from Punjab KPK side will disagree and they will prefer pulao. To each his own.

ohh and polao is poor mans biryani! punjabis love it because they dont know how to make biryani.

Even in Baluchistan, Pulao is more popular than Biryani. So, Pulao wins 3-1 hands down.

Biryani and pulao has so many varieties and most of them are good so there is no real competition. I love them all.

I would kill for my mom's beef pulao with alu ka raita. She uses 'seene ka gosht" or brisket and leave the fat on the bone while making the stock.
Fennel seed is the secret ingedient which gives the pulao the aroma to die for.
She serves is with alu ka baghara raita; it's very simple and even I can make it. Boil 2-3 medium potatoes and crush them coarsely. Mix 2 cups of yoghurt with 3/4 (quarter) cup of luke warm water, add salt and 1 teaspoon chili powder and crushed potatoes and mix well. Now heat 2-3 table spoons oil or ghee and add 1 teaspoon cummin seed and fry till the aroma is released and pour over the raita. The tempering will give the raita extra sourness which goes very well with pulao.
We usually have it on wednesdays, its always been the pulao day :wub:

not student biryani student biryani is pathetic.hai toh poorana catering walla wala hai from bait up mukaram to stadium jo road jaata hai us peh end peh right side peh i i dont remeber the name but ill share when i am in the area worth it hai! they also make crazy polao.

I belong to a kashmiri pathan family living in Karachi and we also love 'dumba' meat. There's a very simple way of making dumba biryani which requires only a few ingredients like onions, ginger, lots of garlic, shahi zeera (black cummin) and sour yoghurt. Everyone has to try this once.

Mene dekha hai kabhi try nahi kia aur student biryani tou such mein taste khau bethi hai apna us se behtar darbar biryani, ALLAH wali biryani, Karachi biryani hen aur hum sab ke elaake mein ek alag se behtreen biryani wala tou hota hi hai

One of my favorite biryanis is served by the memon community in Karachi. it's called 'Bohri Biryani'.
I love the aromas of jaiphal and javitry (nutmeg and mace) and the sourness which comes from the plums (alu bukhara). Mom makes it on special occaisions only. :undecided:

commercial biryanis are not great made to order daig walli biryani is the real thing!

You can eat Pulao every day and it won't bore you..Biryani is good once in a while
