Strictly speaking, he doesn't support Naxalites, but the cause. He disapproves however the violent acts of Naxals. Once again, one can support an ideology but he isn't guilty as long as he is actively helping the banned org to carry out their activities. Here's you're putting Binayak in a same group with those who blow up trains etc, which I think is wrong.I can agree to some things Naxals say and disapprove in some, but that doesn't make guilty of their action.
Abir, there is no distinct, hard line between supporting an idealogy and supporting those who profess that idealogy. In testing times like these, the lines are trangressed more often than the number of trees in Bastar forest.
And it is that precisely that should be destroyed. My personal opinion, it is these intellectuals like Dr.Sen, Vara Vara Rao who in a way romanticise the power hungry monsters the Maoists are today as some kind of Robin Hoods who fight for social equality that I find more dangerous than the Maoists themselves.
Forget everything, even according to the special law of Chattisgar he should get at max 2-3 years of jail term, not life time.
Now thats news to me. Can you provide me the relevant provisions while I try to look it up for myself.
