The main reason for failure of the US and NATO in Afghanistan is not militarily. Yea the Taliban inflicted heavy losses for the US and NATO, but they also took monumental losses themselves. In nearly every encounter, they were outfought.

It was when it came to nation building and the sheer corruption of the puppet afghan govt, was where it started to fail.


If Pakistan goes to war with Afghanistan which is highly unlikely, Pakistan would win militarily (as did the US/NATO and the Soviets (to some degree)), and when it comes to nation building (which will be inevitable in such a scenario) Pakistan has the opportunity to fair better than the others that tried and failed. Of course with the current government of Pakistan, it will fail miserably, because they aren't even building their own nation, they are just destroying it.

Also the whole sharing a border thing is a 2 way situation. Yes they might be able to attack us through the border but so can Pakistan

I noticed this trend in other posts on this thread as well ... bifurcating deaths between civilians and soldiers. Why? So no soldiers died (on top row) as of its the most important thing.
