Border Guard Bangladesh (BGB) has detained four Myanmar ‘citizens’ from the Teknaf border at Cox's Bazar.
BGB Teknaf-2 deputy chief Shariful Jomaddar confirmed the matter to Bangla Tribune on Monday (Aug 26).
The detainees are suspected to be Myanmar’s Border Guard Police (BGP) personnel but the BGB is yet to make a confirmation on the matter.
“On Sunday night, a BGB team acting on a tip-off, raided the bank of River Naf beside Teknaf Sadar Union’s Nazirpara and detained four people,” said Jomaddar.
He added that the detainees claiming to be Myanmar nationals are being questioned.
“The authorities have been informed and steps will be taken accordingly,” he said.
A reliable source claimed that all four detainees are Myanmar’s BGP members and firearms have been seized from them.
However, when asked about it the BGB employee said, “Nothing can be said about it yet.”

I thought it is the military of MM that owns the Indian sub. The arrested BGP guys must be given humanitarian treatment if they are not spies. For spying, they should face trial in a competent Court. If just entered the border to get some food from our Paharis, they should be treated leniently and handed over to the PGP.

Harsh treatment of others suit the Indian people and its BSF and IA troops. They belong to a sub-human group.

Members of Border Guard of Bangladesh (BGB) on Monday detained four Burmese border guard police (BGP) while they were smuggling contra banned Yaba pills inside Bangladeshi territory.

BGB men of Nazirpara BOP in Teknaf also seized a speed boat from detained BGP men’s possession.

The BGP men were taken to Teknaf-2 BGB Battalion Headquarters.
