BGB-BSF celebrate Holi along border

Wrong! Our position is that we would like a good relationship with all our neighbours. And we will make our part of the effort to make that happen. If it's still not possible we move on and pursue other goals. Simple as. Our neighbours can choose to become satellite states of China if they please but they will all too soon realise that playing a proxy war will produce little result and they will end up having been used themselves. The sooner our neighbours come to this realisation the better it will be for stability in the region.

EDIT: To elaborate, we won't be "dropping the ball". We will simply not bend over backwards to the smaller neighbours who wish to threaten India with a proxy war (ie. China) in return for a "good relationship" (ie. What our neighbours want from us).

Bangladesh has never been a “satellite state” to any nation, not to China and certainly not india. We would be happy for you to pursue “other goals” as long as you don’t interfere in our internal politics or sovereignty, of your neighbors (example in case is Nepal).

China is a good ally, and has for the past several decades been very generous in our development, where as india has been the opposite.

You can check out what is the perception of China's immediate neighbors about her and her rise.

Bigger neighbors are never popular, whatever they do. Not to say that we have not made mistakes.

China is courting South Asian countries for reasons that we all know. Of course you are free to take advantage of it. You can also see why it is happening in the last few years so much.

Nepal is now a very different case with Maoists complicating the picture.

So Vinod, to sum things up all we want from india is…

• Respect the agreements you sign.
• Don’t interfere in our internal politics.
• Respect our sovereignty (which means if we want to have good relation with China, stop complaining).
• Respect our territorial integrity.
• Most important quit acting like “big brother”

Now that’s not too much to ask for is it?

I think that is fair.

Not sure the "big brother" accusation will ever go away. We can try not to give cause.

It does not work like that, the land swap deal will mean a net transfer of 8,000-10,000 acres to Bangladesh, most of which are already within Bangladesh borders. It’s an issue of jurisdiction, sovereignty etc… once this is sorted tin bigha corridor will not be required.
The point, which you have missed entirely but not surprisingly, is that India doesn't stand to gain anything either way - whether implementing or not implementing the swap deal (as per 1974 agreement) - because either way India can't get access to more of its own land than BD. Therefore, this attempt to attach a sinister plan behind this delay is actually a desperate attempt to rationalize the irrational fear (or mistrust) of the big bad India.

India's stance on BD hasn't been as friendly as it should have been because of your own effed up polity, marked by the assassination of Mujib. And China's love for BD is for the same reason as it woos Sri Lanka and Pakistan for.

I can’t give a fig what motivates “China’s love for BD” in the end the result is it benefits Bangladesh, and Mujibs assassination in the mid seventies does not explain indias attitude since, even when a pro-india AL was in power.

The last point is based on your perception changing which is beyond our capability. I think as Bangladesh will grow more and more economically, they will get rid of this big dada obsession.

I am unable to find a single example of India disrespecting your sovereignty, integrity or mutual agreement. Yeah India do request you not to be a partner of forces belligerent to India, but paying heed to those is always your's prerogative.
