The major issue that needs to be looked at is what is the age of adult responsibility? Linking adulthood to sexual maturity makes no sense as people don't suddenly become adults upon the onset of puberty...in fact they're probably worse than children because the brain in puberty is in a state of shock.

Yeah...funny how extremist of all kinds, not just religion but in anything, always have more energy with them than others. I wonder why young men leave home and join organizations like ISIS but we never hear of young men independently getting together to create an army to fight ISIS, that always seems left to governments to do! You can replace ISIS with any extremist outfit , the energy always seems to be on the fanatics side.

The only way for women to come close to equal rights is for them to have equal access to capital..inheritance, right to work, right to start business, ownership of property etc.. How that is done would depend on the society. A religious society would have to interpret or reinterpret its religious texts to give women these rights. More secular societies would have their own way of doing it. Each to his own , but at the end of the day, without financial equality there can be no gender equality. And given financial equality, gender equality will follow automatically....which is why there is so much resistance from those who benefit from the way things are right now.


( and yes, before anyone jumps down my throat, I do know that no society has achieved that ultimate goal yet, even Scandinavian countires still have a ways to go....however, Swedish women are much much much much better off than Somalian...facts are facts)
