Hindus too fleeing persecution in Myanmar

More than 70 Hindu families from Maungdaw of Myanmar have fled to Bangladesh through a border in Ukhia of Cox’s Bazar amid attack by an “unidentified armed group”.

Around 412 people of different ages of the community entered Bangladesh territory along with Rohingyas yesterday through Rezu Amtola border and took shelter in a makeshift tent at Paschim Hindupara of Katupalong, reports our correspondent visiting the spot.

The Hindu refugees said unidentified people with firearms, bombs, and knives besieged their villages on August 25, when a group of insurgents carried out attacks on Myanmar security forces.

The people, wearing black cloth and black veil, surrounded Fakira Bazar, Riktapara and Chikonchhari villages till yesterday and "killed some 86 people of the community", they claimed.

“My husband Kanu Rudro went to visit our son-in-law’s house at Fakirabazar. But they [unidentified armed men] killed all of them [Kanu, his daughter, and son-in-law],” wailed Bakul Bala Rudru.

Another victim, Niranjan Rudru from Chikonchhari of Maungdaw told The Daily Star that some people, wearing black cloth, besieged the villages and set fire to the Hindu houses.

“There was no name or number on their black cloth. But they were carrying guns, bombs and knives,” he recalled while narrating the reasons for fleeing to Bangladesh.

They said one or two Hindu children remain missing while crossing the border with Rohingya refugees.

“We have been living in Burma for many generations. We are Burmese Hindu,” said Chittya Ranjan Paul, who crossed the border also and entered Katupalong around 5:30pm yesterday.

His identify card issued by the Myanmar government introduced him as “Indian”, said our correspondent.

Meanwhile, aid workers were found enlisting the names of the Hindu refugees while local Hindu community people came forward to provide them food and shelter.

“We are collecting money from our people with the instruction of our community leader to provide them with food and accommodation,” said Swapan Sharma Rony, a resident of Katupalong village.

Look so many of your hindus are slaughtered and find shelter in Bangladesh.

@Nilgiri
These videos are a good slap on the shameless Indian face. They thought, Rohingyas are only Muslim, so Rohingyas are fair game for torture, killing and expulsion and enthusiastically support Burmese ethnic cleansing and war crime. Now it appears, some Rohingyas are Hindu as well. Now, what will say these shameless Indian looser?

Religion doesn't matter here, they are helpless and slaughtered by animals.Let both Muslims and Hindus come to Bangladesh as most of them are women and children.I always believe, there is no bad religion, there are only bad people.

I feel that the trouble will continue in the region till India exists. Now imagine, if I wasn't on PDF; the Indians would have made me believe that Bangladesh is in their pocket and every Bengali hates Pakistan and loves India while, in fact, it is the opposite. I wish more Pakistanis and Bengali people can be in contact with each other.

I agree with you, when it comes to helping the needy and deserving, the religion does not matter.

It is irrelevant what their religion is. Let them come. BD must not look the other way when people are being slaughtered by animals.

Your heart breaks when you look at these videos. Such inhuman behaviour fellow humans can commit on each other.

The problem is that BD must not be seen to be having an open door policy as the despicable Barmans want to cleanse all Rohingya from their country. BD cannot really win either way as to allowing or not allowing these poor people into BD.

I hope that BD finally learns, that in this neighbourhood of fanatical countries like India and Myanmar, only a strong military can secure the peace and prosperity of the BD people.

As long as they are rohingya they can leave to where they came from, religion does not matter.....or is BD only made of Muslims only?

412 out of 30,000+...wow what a percentage too.

But its typical of BBS infected parasites to over-represent something as 1:1 equivalency :D

Now enjoy getting these 99.9% Muslims and 0.1% Hindu Rohingya (and whatever 0.001% others) shafted right up your rear end and you taking it like a champ and doing squat in return.

Just like you needed big dada to save you from the big bad meanies that supposedly killed 3 million of you in cold blood in your own swamp hole. The nature stuck with you, what a big news it is.

420 is just from one village.
We will shelter everybody regardless. But the point is your dharmic brother not going to spare you. Tamils are their first preferrrd prey.

Tell us when you have final stats of how many Hindus are in the Rohingya that return to BD and lets compare it then with hindu % in BD to begin with.

Tamils are not "prey" ....to this day not one I know has complained of knowing anyone killed in this way like Rohingya are.....and remaining ones are Burmese citizens now. There is the context of period of Bamar in conflict with almost all non-Bamar (incl Chinese minority too) too acting as shadow over that episode. Now its over and settled (Tamils for example are well established in Rangoon and other main cities). But only Rohingya are not getting along, thus they ought to be pushed back to their origin land (BD). Few more waves should do it....hopefully this one sustains for some more time to get to a nice figure.

India - Burma relations are healthy and improving. Indian tourism to Burma has increased 5 times in span of a few years too. Trade, investment and security cooperation too.

So just accept your lot in life, your people returning to you.... so you can continue dreaming of making rice and electricity import deals from Myanmar in future. Second cannot happen without the first.

Because Tamil coolies did not mind accepting the status of 3rd class citizen. Killing them would be redundant.

We will not have religion based stats. But point is your dharmic brotherhood $hit does not work with moga.

Thats for us to see and decide upon (dharmic brotherhood) and not low grade banglapithecus to comment on in cherry-picking ad hominem way....the same simian type who say "time to, time to, time to" but take 30,000+ in just few day times right on cue (and will take in even more for rest of year)....and expect people to think they changed somehow overnight this time lol.

Even if 1 hindu or non-muslim is found among this rohingya exodus to BD, you feel you warped logic is validated lol. But bigger picture is not religion based at all, its ethnic background and origin. These people come from BD area (and thus just happen to be mostly muslim), they will thus be forced to return now since they outstayed their welcome. 500,000 becomes 550,000 now and soon 600,000 (some say 1 million already reached unofficially). The march to 1 million and 1.5 million or however many it takes till lesson is learned and BD absorbs them back....will continue with no significant response from BD past cpl words of indignation. That's just who you are as a people, no point fighting it or crying about it....or dreaming past it.

But you are here promoted dharmic brotherhood in MM. But your brother consider you 3rd grade citizen. The great thing is you don't mind being a subhuman as long as the keep you as coolie. Rohingyas have self respect and they will rather die. Tamils are born to be slave and the react as such. I'm sure you will feel better at home in Virginia than in Canada.
